Santa Claus is coming to the Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library on Sunday. Santa is busy at this time of year, but he is making a special visit to the Library which will be transformed into a winter wonderland for the occasion. Stop by for some cookies and hot chocolate and a chat with Santa. All children will receive a special gift from the jolly old elf.

The 3rd Annual Mountoberfest is this Sunday at Mount Washington House in Hillsdale.

We take the BEST BAND in the HUDSON VALLEY, the BEST BBQ in the BERKSHIRES and the BEST LOCAL POTATIONS from both and mix them all together for one fantastic day of eating, drinking and dancing at the historic Mount Washington House in Hillsdale, NY! This event will be outdoors, weather permitting!

It’s SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY of Columbus Day Weekend! October 7th. JUKEBOX JUNKIES and maybe a special guest. Ticket includes fantastic BBQ with all the fixins from SMOKEY SWEET BBQ and the Mount. (Yes! There will be pigshots!)

Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in Hillsdale, Aug 3 – 5, 2018

The start of August means it’s time for the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Each summer Hillsdale hosts this three day music festival and camping experience.

The start of August means it’s time for the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Each summer Hillsdale hosts this three day music festival and camping experience. This year is the festival’s 30th year, and the fun starts on Friday, August 3rd, and goes to Sunday, the 5th. In addition to the music, the festival will also have vendors, food, crafts, and on-site camping.

Pre-Fest TASTINGS DAY and Farm Market on Thursday, August 2nd. Early Camping opens Wednesday afternoon, August 1st.

The Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library presents Sound Explorers at Ancram Town Hall.  A fun, educational experience for children of all ages


The Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library presents Sound Explorers at Ancram Town Hall.  A fun, educational experience for children of all ages that awakens and develops the under-emphasized yet most fundamental way we perceive the universe around us – the wonderful world of listening, sound, vibration, and music.

Throughout this engaging program, children explore a series of interactive experiences including:

  • Fun experiments that explore the science of sound
  • Spontaneous music making with recycling instruments
  • Unique exercises that develop listening skills, perception and auditory awareness
  • Musical story and imagery activities that unleash the power of the imagination
  • Musical movement and group interaction

This event is funded by a grant from the Rheinstrom Hill Community Foundation.

Roeliff Jansen Library Presentation: Eleanor Roosevelt & the Fight for Civil Rights

The Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library is hosting a presentation entitled, ‘Eleanor Roosevelt and the Fight for Civil Rights’. The presentation, featuring Shannon Butler, will cover Butler’s research on Eleanor Roosevelt’s relationships with various Civil Rights leaders from the White House years up until her death. It goes over some of the major events that she was involved in or at least took interest in helping with during this span of time. The presentation will also look at Eleanor Roosevelt used the power of her position to help a cause she felt strongly for.

Shannon Butler has served as a Park Guide with the National Park Service for over 7 years. She has worked at various other historic sites and historical societies for over 12 years. She earned degrees in History from SUNY New Paltz and the University at Albany. She is also currently serving as the Municipal Historian of the Town of Hyde Park.
