Evening of American Songbook Jazz at Roeliff Jansen Library, Jan 11

The Roeliff Jansen Library presents an Evening of American Songbook Jazz on
Saturday, January 11, with Atla and Matt DeChamplain.

The library will be hosting a lively night of music from acclaimed jazz duo Atla and Matt DeChamplain. The couple will be joined by bassist Nat Reeves, who has spent nearly forty years performing jazz across the globe.

Pianist Matt DeChamplain has performed at numerous venues and festivals, including the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Berklee Jazz Festival, Kennedy Center, and Lincoln Center. Additionally, he teaches at the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the Hartt School of Music. His wife, Atla DeChamplain, is a jazz vocalist who teaches at Western Connecticut University and Capital Community College. Both Matt and Atla are graduates of the University of Toledo, and in 2015, they released their first collaboration, PAUSE, featuring jazz artist Jon Hendricks.

The DeChamplains will be joined by bassist Nat Reeves, who has performed for nearly forty years in venues across the globe, and released his own jazz album, State of Emergency! in 2012. This past year alone, Nat has performed in India and Japan, at festivals in San Francisco, New Orleans, Detroit, and Atlanta, and at Lincoln Center.

Club Helsinki presents an evening of Indie-Blues and Jazz on Saturday, December 28.

Matt Lorenz, the Northampton, Mass.-based indie-blues singer-songwriter who performs under the name The Suitcase Junket, and Carsie Blanton, whose erotically-charged songs find the musical link between vintage jazz and rap come to Hudson.

The Club Helsinki Pro Jam is a bimonthly jam session featuring dozens of professional musicians from the greater Hudson Valley region.

The event welcomes all working musicians in the region to sit in for a freewheeling jam session.

Copake Country Club’s Little Big Party w/ Jukebox Junkies, Dec 12

On Thursday, December 12th, The Copake Country Club is hosting their Little Big Party with a live performance from the Jukebox Junkies.  Come on out and have a great evening by the fire places, while dancing the night away.

Ticket price includes your first drink, passed hors d’oeuvres, entry into a raffle and sweets at the end of the night.  Option to also book a dinner reservation if you’d like a table for the night (must call to book).

5th Annual Oldtone Roots Music Festival, Sep 5 – 8

The 5th Annual Oldtone Roots Music Festival features traditional mountain fiddling, bluegrass, hot swing, classic country, brass, cajun and contra music.

A family-friendly full camping festival with kids activities, dance tent, hands-on instrument workshops led by world-class musicians, instrument and band contests, Hudson Valley farm-to-table food, libations, and exceptional national & regional acts on the main, dance, & workshop stages.

The Festival has three stages offering traditional music performances, dances, workshops, contests, and children’s activities. The festival seeks to preserve American Roots music and dance with an intimate and interactive festival that includes opportunities to engage with main stage artists in workshop settings. Jamming in the campground late into the night is encouraged. In the evenings attendees and artists dance under a tent that perches over the spectacular rolling hills of upstate New York Farm Country.
