Celebrate the changing of the seasons during this special community solstice celebration on December 18th. Join Olana to usher in the new season with a series of free opportunities to experience Olana’s beautiful winter landscape.
*Enjoy free partial access to the first floor of Olana’s historic interiors.
*Take in Olana’s famous views in a new way during a special audio performance by the artist collaborative, b e i n g-s o u n d (free, advanced registration required here).
*Watch the sunset and enjoy hot apple cider from Samascott Orchards and gingerbread donuts from Stewart’s Shops.
*Outdoor art-making activities will be available for kids and families.
*A Solstice Mix by Basilica Hudson will be available for seasonal listening.
*Warm-up by a sunset bonfire.
In addition to welcoming a new season, we’ll be saying goodbye to Jean Shin’s art installation, FALLEN during this event. At dusk, parts of the hemlock will be cremated into ash and charcoal and the rest will be returned to the landscape to nourish the living hemlocks at Olana.
