Tanglewood Releases 2008 Schedule

Next summer is already heating up at Tanglewood with some heavy hitters on the roster for the 2008 season.

The renowned outdoor music venue in the Berkshires released it’s 2008 schedule today and it includes an appearance by opera star Renee Fleming on August 2nd. Fleming will join the Boston Symphony Orchestra for a performance of Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin.

The week is capped by Maestro James Levine on July 5, as he leads the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the Berlioz opera Les Troyens. Opening night will also feature Tanglewood’s annual Berkshire Night, with free tickets for 1,000 year-round residents of the Berkshires.

A City Rises in the Country

The Boston Globe ran a great article yesterday about Pittsfield, MA. This once troubled little city has been experiencing a cultural and economic Renaissance over the past few years and it’s nice to see a paper, such as The Globe, recognize that.

The better half and I were first introduced to Pittsfield when our friend, Darrell Pucciarello opened his school for dance, Studio One, in the town several years ago.

If you haven’t already done so, you can read the Boston Globe article, written by Globe Correspondent, Joan Axelrod-Contrada, here.
