Cleremont State Historic Site presents the Harmonies on the Hudson Outdoor Concert Series with recording artist, Greg Farley. Relax on the beautiful lawn adjacent to the mansion and enjoy a FREE outdoor concert. Bring a blanket, chair and a picnic. Children are welcome.

After ten years of playing and recording with the Felice Brothers and Conor Oberst, Greg Farley has just released his debut solo album, Taker Easy. For the album Farley mines his own history for stories of class struggle, nature, love, pain, work, and family, all set against the backdrop of the northeast. At the end of the day, Farley has nothing to lose and something to say, and he’s saying it from the gut.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.

The 5th Annual Oldtone Roots Music Festival features traditional mountain fiddling, bluegrass, hot swing, classic country, brass, cajun and contra music.

The 5th Annual Oldtone Roots Music Festival features traditional mountain fiddling, bluegrass, hot swing, classic country, brass, cajun and contra music.

A family-friendly full camping festival with kids activities, dance tent, hands-on instrument workshops led by world-class musicians, instrument and band contests, Hudson Valley farm-to-table food, libations, and exceptional national & regional acts on the main, dance, & workshop stages.

The Festival has three stages offering traditional music performances, dances, workshops, contests, and children’s activities. The festival seeks to preserve American Roots music and dance with an intimate and interactive festival that includes opportunities to engage with main stage artists in workshop settings. Jamming in the campground late into the night is encouraged. In the evenings attendees and artists dance under a tent that perches over the spectacular rolling hills of upstate New York Farm Country.

Spencertown Academy Festival of Books, Labor Day Weekend 2019

Festival of Books, the annual extravaganza of all things literary, takes place over Labor Day weekend. The event features a giant used book sale, two days of readings and book signings by nationally known and local authors

The annual Festival of Books at Spencertown Academy Arts Center is a celebration of books and reading for the whole community. For three days in early September we welcome outstanding writers and poets and nearly 2,000 readers and book-lovers to our 1847 schoolhouse in rural Columbia County. This year’s festival will feature a visit from Froggy on Saturday morning for the kids.

The festival opens Friday with Members’ Only Preview Day, giving members and their guests early access to the book rooms. Admission is free for members, $10 for each member guest. Membership has its privileges! Join now to ensure early access, or purchase a membership at the door on Friday. Members also receive one or more free book(s), and may celebrate their purchases at an evening wine and cheese reception.

All other programming on Saturday, Sunday and Monday — book sales, children’s program and author presentations – is free to all.

The Theater Barn, in New Lebanon, presents “Lucky Stiff”, this Thursday through September 1.

Based on the novel, The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth, Lucky Stiff is an offbeat, hilarious murder mystery farce, complete with mistaken identities, six million bucks in diamonds and a corpse in a wheelchair. Harry Witherspoon stands to inherit the fortune before the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn or to his uncle’s gun-toting ex-mistress.
