Clermont’s annual Legends by Candlelight Ghost Encounters Tour returns with two weekends of fun.

Clermont’s annual Legends by Candlelight Ghost Encounters Tour returns with two weekends of fun. In this annual event visitors will meet a horde of “ghosts” from Clermont’s past as they tell their stories of glory, loss, success, and failure. Some ghosts may be scary, some may be funny but all the stories they tell are true!

On Friday October 21st and Saturday October 22nd, visitors will be seated on the lawn of Clermont surrounded by the flickering specters of Jack-o’-lanterns; hand carved by the museum’s staff. Visitors for the ghost encounter should bring their own chair or blanket as none will be provided. This program will begin at the Visitor Center.

On Saturday October 29th and Sunday October 30th, visitors will begin their night of spooky entertainment enjoying a bonfire with marshmallows, then be whisked off on a walking tour to meet the ghosts of Clermont. Visitors for the ghost encounter should wear comfortable shoes and be ready for an adventure!

As all events are outside it is suggested everyone dress for the weather.

ADMISSION$12 (Adults) / $5 (Children, 5 – 12)

When Ameripolitan Award winning artist Lara Hope teams up with internationally touring, upright bass-slapping pro Matt “The Knife” Goldpaugh, they become…THE GOLD HOPE DUO! This husband-wife team are hitting it hard, spreading “Merry-Cana”, a term they coined to describe their genre. They will be bringing their unique brand of stripped-down, upbeat Rockabilly, Rhythm & Blues, Country, Folk and a pinch a humor to a town near you! Living by the motto “If you can’t do it, kazoo it!”, this pair is sure to make you laugh, dance, and sing along!

*You can also find the GHD playing worldwide with their full band, Lara Hope & The Ark-Tones, supporting acts such as The Brian Setzer Orchestra, Reverend Horton Heat, and The Blasters.

Due to mansion restoration work, this season of concerts will be held adjacent to the main parking lot, near the Arryl House ruins. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket, as seating will not be provided. Picnic dinners are welcome, but please leave your alcoholic beverages at home.

Clermont State Historic Site presents the Harmonies on the Hudson Outdoor Concert Series with shandy on Thursday, July 14th, from 6 – 8pm.

Hailing from The Farm Music in Coxsackie, NY, Shandy is the husband-wife duo of Shannon and Andy Schober. Shandy specializes in telling lyrically-driven stories by blending acoustic, folk and Americana around Shannon’s emotionally-charged voice and Andy’s deep harmonies. They perform a wide catalogue of covers including the likes of Brandi Carlile, The Honeycutters, John Prine, Devil Makes Three, Old Crow Medicine Show as well as their own pieces.

Please note: Unvaccinated visitors should wear a face covering when unable to maintain social distance outdoors.

Clermont State Historic Site presents Springtime Story Hour on Saturday the 17th. Join one of Clermont’s costumed interpreters as they read spring themed stories in person.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, and an adult must be accompanied by a child. Attendance will be limited to aid in social distancing.

PLEASE NOTE: Clermont follows all NYS Department of Health guidelines for safety during the COVID 19 pandemic. Masks and social distancing will be required of all tour participants until these guidelines are lifted by New York State Parks.
