Happenings This Weekend: January 21 – 23, 2011

It’s snowing again today so check with the following happenings to make sure they are still happening.

FRIDAY, January 21

Monster Jam Thunder Nationals at Times Union Center
Featuring Monster Trucks including Grave Digger® driven by Carl Van Horn, Tasmanian Devil driven by Nicole Johnson, Thrasher driven by Pat Summa, Full Boar driven by Ed Eckert, Crushstation driven by Greg Winchenbach, and Aftershock driven by Bob Robbins! Also featuring Quad Wars!

Gates open at 6:30PM and the show starts at 7:30PM
Tickets for Gold Circle are $30. Price Level 2 is $20 Adults and $5 Kids. All tickets are $5 more on the day of the show so buying in advance is a good idea. Tickets are available now at the Times Union Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster Outlets.

Family Movie Night: “Alpha And Omega” at New Lebanon Library
Alpha and Omega, an animated movie, is the story of two young wolves at opposite ends of their pack’s social order, who are thrown together into a foreign land and need each other to return home. Rated PG for rude humor and some mild action.
Showtime is 6:30pm

SATURDAY, January 22

On Saturday only there is a Pit Party from 4:30 to 6:30PM. Pit Passes are available at Your Upstate Ford Dealers from 12/27/10 through 1/20/11 whiles supplies last.

Northern Dutchess Symphony Orchestra Performs Madama Butterfly at FDR High School, Hyde Park
The Opera will be performed in the auditorium of Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and features soprano Maryann Mootos, mezzo-soprano Antonella Delli Carpini and tenor Victor Khodadad.

Billed as an “Opera Ritaglia”, this performance has been designed to appeal to a wide audience by shortening the typically three act opera to two acts while retaining the most beloved songs and storyline.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students. They can be purchased on the orchestra’s web site at www.ndsorchestra.org or at the box office on the evening of the performance starting at 6:45pm.

Albany Symphony Orchestra: Verdir’s Requiem at Palace Theatre
The Albany Symphony Orchestra perform’s Verdir’s Requiem, a choral masterpiece that is part sacred masterwork and full-blooded Italian opera. The Requiem features four operatic soloists and a chorus of 130 voices.
The performance begins at 7:30pm and runs to midnight.

Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster and cost $15.00 – $54.00.
