Hudson Hall continues the New Virtual Event, ‘Close Readings in a Virtual Space’, with guest, Simone White.  Read through Leslie Scalapino’s “A Sequence” with Simone White and others taking part.

“Simone White, one of our favorite poets, will lead this intimate, virtual group read-through Leslie Scalapino’s “A Sequence.” Neither teaching nor explaining, Simone will serve as your expert tour-guide to explore this poem as a group. Whether you are already well-versed in the close reading of poems, or have never been quite sure you’ve been “getting it,” this “close reading in a virtual space” will provide a digital gathering for everyone to take a refreshing deep dive into this single poem.

The event will last about an hour, and will conclude with a brief reading of poetry by our special guest poet.

This is a challenging time for all of us, but poetry offers us a fortifying focus. Talking through a poem together with a group of fellow readers just might provide a bit of the balm we all need.”

Basilica Hudson‘s season opener, the annual 24-Hour Drone Experiments in Sound & Music, will take place as a Web-Based program over the weekend of Saturday, April 25 – Sunday, April 26.

MAY THE DRONE GO ON

“For our last six years, 24-HOUR DRONE has kicked our Basilica season into bloom, and been a sacred wake-up call for our building in her winter hibernation. In our 10 year anniversary season, for our spirits and our creative community, we are committed to keeping 24-HOUR DRONE alive, and to activating those 24 HOURS of sound in a new world way.

With 24-HOUR DRONE’s in-person event postponed until April 2021, we will continue to collaborate with our long-established local and international community, with web-based DRONE programming taking place during its previously scheduled weekend of Saturday, April 25 – Sunday, April 26.

In the continued spirit of creating music without borders, local and international partners will join forces to keep the DRONE dream alight, including 24-HOUR DRONE’s long-standing co-presenters Le Guess Who?.

Basilica will also be working in partnership with a number of other droners who will present their own streams from around the world. These partners include the newly-formed, Hudson-based initiative Live from Quarantine, collaborators and Sweden-based Lumen Project, Brooklyn-based The Lot RadioThe Deep Listening Institute with online festival Music on the Rebound, and Salford, UK-based Fat Out Fest with Islington Mill Public Access TV. The full lineup of partners and artists will be announced shortly.

Basilica will also be streaming the audio from its inaugural 2015 24-HOUR DRONE in its entirety on WGXC / Wave Farm radio. Tune in at noon on Saturday till noon on Sunday via wavefarm.org or locally in Greene and Columbia counties at 90.7 FM.”
