MAY THE DRONE GO ON

“For our last six years, 24-HOUR DRONE has kicked our Basilica season into bloom, and been a sacred wake-up call for our building in her winter hibernation. In our 10 year anniversary season, for our spirits and our creative community, we are committed to keeping 24-HOUR DRONE alive, and to activating those 24 HOURS of sound in a new world way.

In the continued spirit of creating music without borders, local and international partners will join forces to keep the DRONE dream alight, including 24-HOUR DRONE’s long-standing co-presenters Le Guess Who?.

Basilica will also be working in partnership with a number of other droners who will present their own streams from around the world. These partners include the newly-formed, Hudson-based initiative Live from Quarantine, collaborators and Sweden-based Lumen Project, Brooklyn-based The Lot RadioThe Deep Listening Institute with online festival Music on the Rebound, and Salford, UK-based Fat Out Fest with Islington Mill Public Access TV. The full lineup of partners and artists will be announced shortly.

Basilica will also be streaming the audio from its inaugural 2015 24-HOUR DRONE in its entirety on WGXC / Wave Farm radio. Tune in at noon on Saturday till noon on Sunday via wavefarm.org or locally in Greene and Columbia counties at 90.7 FM.”

Basilica’s 2019 24-Hour Drone Festival is This Weekend, Apr 27 – 28

web-header-3
Basilica Hudson‘s season opener, the annual 24-Hour Drone Experiments in Sound & Music, is this weekend, April 27 and 28, 2019. The annual festival, presented by Basilica Hudson and Le Guess Who?, is a roving, international series featuring musicians and sound artists experimenting within the spectrum of drones (sustained tones shaped by voice or instrumentation) to create 24 hours of unbroken, uninterrupted sound.

Escape the tight hands of time in a long-form, endurance homage to sound. An all-encompassing, immersive event, 24-HOUR DRONE features musicians and sound artists experimenting with sustained tones, creating a full twenty-four hours of unbroken sound.

Droners are free to come and go over the twenty-four hours, but those who make the commitment to this long-duration work will be rewarded with the intangible feeling of meditative contentment, pure bliss, and communal collaboration.
