Anti-Fracking Rally in Albany Today

A diverse coalition of anti-fracking organizations are organizing a rally to send Governor Cuomo a simple message: Don’t Frack New York! At the rally, hundreds of people will take a pledge to take nonviolent action if Cuomo moves forward with his plan to frack New York.

Join author and activist Bill McKibben, filmmaker Josh Fox (Gasland), Sandra Steingraber and other movement leaders. Participants will have a chance to pledge escalating nonviolent resistance to fracking, and to deliver those pledges to Governor Cuomo’s office.

Rally Against Fracking in Albany Tomorrow

As Governor Cuomo is nearing a decision on whether to open New York to fracking, the momentum is building for him to issue a statewide ban.

Last week, more than 200,000 petition signatures — including from over 30,000 CREDO Action members — were delivered to the Governor.1

To keep the pressure building, there’s going to be a huge rally in Albany on Tuesday, featuring actors Mark Ruffalo and Mellisa Leo, with music by Natalie Merchant and many others.

Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band will perform a benefit concert on Saturday for Joseph Wilkinson at the Washington Street Armory.

Albany Job Fair, April 15

The Dr. King Career Fair is happening today, Thursday, April 15 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Empire State Plaza Convention Center in Albany.

More than 1,400 jobs will be offered by over 70 local businesses, who will meet with job seekers and conduct interviews for a variety of employment opportunities. Admission is free to the public. Job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes, dress to impress and be prepared to speak to local businesses about numerous career opportunities. Businesses will be recruiting for positions such as IT, Engineering, Accounting, RN, LPN, Personal Care Aides, Customer Service, Administrative, Janitorial, Sales, Auto Body/Mechanics and Management.

How Much Are NY Senators Spending on Office Expenses

CBS 6 in Albany recently ran an interesting You Paid For It segment taking a look at how much money our “trusted” Senators are spending to run their offices.

Here is the video.

I wish CBS provided us with a breakdown of how this money was spent but regardless of that, this seems like an awful lot of our money being spent in a time when the state is on the verge of bankruptcy. I’d also like to know how much money these fat-cats are getting for daily meal allowances.
