A hopping kangaroo, leaping lemur, and a Patagonian cavy will thrill and delight all ages! This conservation-based program will give participants an opportunity to see these and other fascinating and fun animals. The presenters will provide educational information and interesting facts about the animals as well as answer questions. There will be a meet and greet with a few animals too! All are welcome to enjoy this interactive fun family event!

Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District provides educational programs and services to help residents and communities manage and protect the natural resources of Columbia County.

RSVP is required at least one day beforehand. You will be asked to provide your license plate number and make/model car so Park Management and Police have a record of who will be in park after hours.

Celebrate National Trails Day With Columbia Land Conservancy, Jun 1

Choose your own adventure to celebrate National Trails Day! The Columbia Land Conservancy is teaming up with local experts and partners to offer something for everyone at our newest Public Conservation Area.

Choose your own adventure to celebrate National Trails Day! The Columbia Land Conservancy is teaming up with local experts and partners to offer something for everyone at their newest Public Conservation Area.
Join CLC from 8:30am – 10:30am for yoga with Supersoul Yoga or a volunteer opportunity, where you’ll learn about trail improvements and put your new skills to work improving the site for everyone. At 10:30, there will be a wide selection of ways to experience Overmountain Conservation Area, including:

  • A guided nature walk with Jane Meigs, Ancram Conservation Advisory Council member
  • A kid-friendly hike with Jill Jakimetz from Hike It Baby
  • Bring your pooch and learn how to be a good dog on the trails with local trainer Peg Munves.
  • Get up close and personal with Sharon Audubon and their Birds of Prey, including our mascot – the Kestrel! Starting at 11:30.
  • Asia Luna will have magic bubbles to test out or buy your own bubble wand kit! They will also have other fun products to help you enjoy Trails Day!
  • Grab a bite to eat from local food truck, Moon Dog’s (bring funds to purchase) or bring a picnic lunch!
  • FREE ice cream from Stewarts will be provided as well!

Registration is required, so that CLC can order enough food, and make sure to not overbook any of the hikes. Well-behaved, leashed dogs that are dog- and people-friendly are welcome on the dog hike.

When you register, select if you’ll be attending yoga or the volunteer activity, and select the hike you plan to take from the drop-down menu.

Art Omi’s Summer Season Opening celebrates the 2019 exhibition program with a lively afternoon of events, performance, refreshments, and more.

Commemorating the opening of installations by Andrea Bowers, Sarah Braman, Atelier Van Lieshout, Matthew Geller, Goshka Macuga, Virginia Overton, Arlene Shechet, Brian Tolle, and Christopher Wool.

Plus the opening reception for the solo exhibition David Shrigley: To Be Of Use, featuring a live performance at 3 p.m. in the Newmark Gallery by Melissa Auf der Maur, Arone Dyer, and Rebecca Ruth Borrer.

In the Architecture Fields, experience the debut of new pavilions by Yolande Daniels, Hou de Sousa, Aleksandr Mergold, and BASE Studio.

From 1 to 4 p.m., Art Omi: Education hosts its annual Block Party in the Education Pavilions, where children and families embark on a collaborative building project. All are welcome to spend a short or a long time working on this temporary installation.
