The Great Backyard Bird Count, Feb 19

Join the Columbia Land Conservancy on Saturday February 19th at Ooms Conservation Area in Chatham, and experienced birder Will Yandik for a morning counting birds!

Bring binoculars, wear weather appropriate clothing: layers, hat, gloves, warm shoes

Launched in 1998 by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society, the Great Backyard Bird Count was the first online citizen-science project to collect data on wild birds and to display results in near real-time.

Now, more than 160,000 people of all ages and walks of life worldwide join the four-day count each February to create an annual snapshot of the distribution and abundance of birds.

Greenhouse Cidery Reopening Weekend, May 2021

The Greenhouse Cidery at Chatham Berry Farm is reopening this weekend – Thursday 5/6, Friday 5/7 & Saturday 5/8! The Cidery will have their own small batch hard cider on tap + a great selection of NY made beers, wines and spirits.

Yummy Kitchen will be back for the 2021 Season – Get ready for the BEST pan-Asian cuisine prepared on site from fresh & delicious ingredients!

Columbia Land Conservancy Monthly Gathering – January Nature Night: Moths, Jan 9

The Columbia Land Conservancy is presenting monthly gatherings in their office to learn about different topics and the fascinating work members of our community are doing to protect and engage with the land.

January’s theme is Moths of Columbia County with Dylan Cipkowski of the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program: A night delving into the mystery of moths! Focusing on the many moths we have right here in Columbia County, Dylan will discuss the importance of moths and the research being conducted by the Hawthorne Valley Farmscape Ecology Program. He’ll share ways for all of us to live and operate as land stewards with a more moth-minded approach.

Refreshments will be served.

“Feeling full after Thanksgiving? Not sure what to do with your houseguests? Opt outside with CLC! We’ll take a leisurely stroll to the overlook at High Falls while we learn about the history of the site and what makes it special.”
