The Ghent Playhouse presents ‘The Chalk Garden’, with performances from January 31 through February 16.

This psychological chamber piece was revived to critical acclaim on the West End in 2008. In 1955 Sussex, England, a dyed-in-the-wool British dowager and her precocious and equally eccentric granddaughter are about to meet their match in Miss Madrigal, the enigmatic household companion with secrets, who has just been hired. A tantalizing, fascinating and stimulating evening of theatre

Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library‘s 7th Annual Dine Out for the Library series will kick off on Thursday, January 23, and continue through April 16.

Dine Out for the Library is an ongoing promotion that benefits both the library and local businesses in our community. Each week, a different restaurant will be hosting Dine Out hours and donate 10% of proceeds to the library. By partaking in this series, diners get to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting both small businesses during a slow period of the year and Roeliff Jansen Community Library, at no additional cost to you!

The first restaurant featured is Swiss Hutte in Hillsdale. Other restaurants participating in this year’s Dine Out include Hillsdale House, Four Brothers, and the Roe Jan Brewing Company, among others. Additionally, Dad’s Diner, in Copake, will be hosting Dine Out hours all day on February 3, as will the cafè at Random Harvest, in Craryville, on February 15.

A new Dine Out feature this year will be Community Tables, which, on select dates, will make it easy for people without a dinner companion to make some new friends. To join a Community Table, you can sign up in advance at the library, or email Marilyn Gross at mlgross27@optonline.net.

DATEs/TIMEs/LOCATIONs: Thursday, January 23 through April 16, 2020
