In what has become an annual winter tradition, the Roeliff Jansen Community Library is partnering with select area restaurants for the “Dine Out for the Library” program, which encourages “dining local” to raise money for children’s programs at the library.
From January 26 through April 27, eleven restaurants in the Roe Jan area will take part, and donate ten percent of dinner (or breakfast and lunch) revenues to benefit the library’s programming for children and teens, and also fund participation in outreach programs that encourage early literacy and learning skills.

The winter months can be hard on restaurants because people don’t go out as much. We see this as an opportunity to help local restaurants by encouraging our patrons to “dine local” more often at this time of year. You can to do good on two fronts — for your local restaurants and for your library. And, of course you get to enjoy some tasty meals.

Warm up this winter with some good old fashioned musical theater at the Ghent Playhouse. The theater’s current production is Once Upon A Mattress, a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer.
