The Mac-Haydn theatre’s annual fundraising event returns and this time you have four chances to see it! Join your favorite Mac-Haydn cast members as they deliver show stopping performances of musical theater’s greatest hits. From classic to contemporary, it’s the ultimate show tunes revue.

Producing Artistic Director John Saunders will lead the performance, curating an hour-long program. “Showstoppers is a chance to celebrate the extraordinarily talented company members of our 2022 season,” said Saunders. “With hit numbers from hit shows, Showstoppers promises to be a program packed with songs both old and new to delight audiences.”

“Showstoppers” will feature the 2022 Resident Company, as well as various surprise special guests, performing solo and group numbers from all corners of the musical theatre canon. Eric Shorey leads from the pit as the Music Director.

Saunders spoke further about the contribution this program makes to the Mac-Haydn’s season: “Every season, this show gives us the chance to do what the Mac-Haydn does best – and that’s to present both great classical and contemporary musical theatre. You won’t want to miss this chance to see this eclectic selection of songs featuring Mac-Haydn favorites and the new stars of the 2022 resident company.”

The town of New Lebanon’s “Music in the Park” series takes place this Sunday during the town’s Community Picnic.

Local musician Doug Banker will be performing with The Echoes and with Linda Worster at the August 21st Music in the Park event. Doug, a co-founder of Music in the Park and The Echoes band, has been “retired” from live performance during the pandemic. But he has tuned up his ukulele for this event!

The songs he will perform with Linda are intended as a tribute to David Grover, who passed away in November 2021. Dave played with Linda at Music in the Park events in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2021. They performed together for many years at the New Lebanon Library as well. As an “honorary citizen” of New Lebanon, he will be missed. Come and sing along with Linda and Doug to show your love for this wonderful musician.

Food and beverages, including wine and craft beers, will be sold during the performances.

‘The Full Monty’ at Mac-Haydn Theatre, Aug 18 – Sep 4

The 2022 season continues at Mac-Haydn theatre with The Full Monty opening this week.

The 2022 season continues at Mac-Haydn theatre with The Full Monty opening this week.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and possibly the most highly anticipated closing number of any show in history…

This grin and bare-it comedy tells the story of six average-looking, unemployed steelworkers on the verge of a bold plan to get themselves out of debt, and make amends with those they love. When the men spy their wives going crazy over a group of male strippers, they decide to make some quick cash by forming their own act – a team of male strippers with ‘real’ bodies. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they’re stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to “let it go.”

After its smashing Mac-Haydn debut in 2014, The Full Monty is back to bare it all for three weeks! This highly-anticipated return is guaranteed to have you on your feet and feeling inspired to embrace your true self.

Book by Terrence McNally
Music and Lyrics by David Yazbek
