Super Mario Bros. Corn Maze at New York Farm

Every year since 2005, Stoughton Farm, in Newark Valley, NY, has created a uniquely themed corn maze. This year, the theme is Super Mario Bros., the popular Nintendo video game.

The maze covers nearly eight acres, and took several weeks, plus a lot of math to build. The Stoughton family and their maze were recently featured in an ABC News article, where Tim Stoughton said, “We lay it out into grids and then go in and take the corn out where the pathways should be,” said Stoughton. “We do it when you can still see over the corn, before it gets too tall.”6a50ff_27d1f714ff1c419faeb2c713423b9543

Stoughton Farm is a greenhouse, roadside farm market, and “MAiZE” site located in Newark Valley, New York, which is near Ithaca. The Super Mario Bros., Maze opens on Saturday, September 17. Additional attractions include a 9ft tube slide, a spider web for the youngsters, pumpkin checkers, duck races, and dozens of photo ops. On the weekends, the farm also has a corn cannon, pumpkin blaster, cow train rides, and hayrides.

There’s also a food truck with Homemade French Fries!

Columbia County Residential Broadband Survey Available

Connect Columbia wants to hear from county residents (and businesses) about our current internet connectivity experiences. The information that they gather will be used to help identify areas of the county that need better and faster access to the internet.

Connect Columbia, a Community Action Citizens Group, has created a short and simple online survey that all residents can take. The data collected from the survey will help the group and the county’s broadband subcommittee to learn more about area internet service providers and their actual coverage areas. The ultimate goal of the group and subcommittee is to improve internet service across Columbia County.

The residential survey gives respondents the option of entering their street address. While your address is not required to fill out the survey, entering a street address will help the group’s overall mapping results. I filled out the survey, and it took about 2 minutes to complete.
