Cary Institute Lecture Series Presents ‘Wild By Design’ on January 6

Winter is the perfect time to start planning, and day dreaming, for the next outdoor season and your garden.  To help you jump-start those plans, and get some interesting new ideas that you might be able to incorporate into your own garden, this Friday, the Cary Institute Presents ‘Wild By Design’ with landscape architect Margie Ruddick.

Harvard trained landscape architect Margie Ruddick will showcase design strategies that integrate biodiversity and ecological purpose. Her visually rich presentation will draw on 30 years of public and private landscape design work.

In her book Wild by Design, Ruddick shows how five basic principles can be applied to create landscapes that are both sustainable and emotionally powerful places. Books will be available for purchase by Merritt Bookstore.

Columbia County in Pictures: November Blizzard 2016

The surprise blizzard that came through Columbia County on Sunday knocked out power for thousands of residents (myself included) After three days without electricity, the lights finally came back on yesterday evening. Now that I have power and internet back, I can appreciate the beauty of the following pictures.
