The Roeliff Jansen Commuity Library is hosting it’s 8th Annual Gala this weekend. The event will feature food & wine, music, raffle, silent auction and live auction with unique and interesting items.

Hudson Pride Weekend: Justin Vivian Bond Grand Marshal of 2017 Parade!

Mx Justin Vivian Bond will be the Grand Marshal, aka Grand Marsha, of the 2017 OutHudson Parade. The Grand Marsha title honors Marsha P. Johnson, the transwoman of color who threw the first brick during The Stonewall Riots in June of 1969.

Justin Vivian Bond, is a “trans-genre” artist, and half of the duo, Kiki & Herb. Bond is a well known singer-songwriter, author, painter, performance artist and actor. Mx Bond, in addition to being a new Hudson Valley resident, has performed at multiple venues throughout the area, including organizing the popular Spiegeltent Cabaret at Bard College. Bond has received numerous accolades, including an Obie (2001), a Bessie (2004), a Tony nomination (2007), the Ethyl Eichelberger Award (2007), The Peter Reed Foundation Grant, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant for Artists. Hudson Pride Weekend: Poke the Bear Beer Blast w/ Big Dipper

Immediately after the Hudson LGBTQ Parade down Warren Street, The Half Moon will host the 2017 Poke the Bear Beer Blast and Tea Dance, part of OutHudson’s LGBTQ Pride weekend.  NYC DJ’s, Prephab, are slated to supply the music and special guest, Big Dipper will perform.   All proceeds will benefit OutHudson’s mission to promote LGBTQ awareness in Columbia County, NY.

Historic Red Hook Preservation Expo 2017

The Elmendorph Inn is the oldest public building in the Town of Red Hook, and one of the oldest in the Hudson Valley. It’s the perfect setting for Historic Red Hook’s 3rd annual Preservation Expo this Saturday.

The expo is an “info fair” that will focus on how to preserve, restore and re-use your old house, barns or outbuildings. There will be hands-on demonstrations and presentations by people who have done it before. Attendees are invited to drop by any time with questions & photos for “show and tell”. The expo will also have live music and food.

Hudson Flag Day Parade – Saturday June 10!

This Saturday is Hudson’s Flag Day Parade. The day starts with entertainment, informational displays, and vendors at the 7th St. Park, which is followed by the Elks Annual Flag Day Ceremony.

The parade will start at Green & State Street and will march down Warren St, ending at the Amtrak Train Station. The Parade features marchers, vehicles, floats and marching bands from community groups, churches, fire companies, youth groups, and businesses.

The big bands returning include The Hawthorne Caballeros, 20th Century Limited and Brass-O-Mania, along with high school marching bands and more! Some of these groups will give an additional performance at the waterfront, followed by the judges’ announcement of trophies earned.

The water front will also feature a large variety of food vendors, an amusement area with rides, and entertainment provided by Dusk to Dawn and Side Show Willie.  The day wraps up with the area’s largest fireworks display, produced by Young Explosives.
