Mx Justin Vivian Bond will be the Grand Marshal, aka Grand Marsha, of the 2017 OutHudson Parade. The Grand Marsha title honors Marsha P. Johnson, the transwoman of color who threw the first brick during The Stonewall Riots in June of 1969.
Justin Vivian Bond, is a “trans-genre” artist, and half of the duo, Kiki & Herb. Bond is a well known singer-songwriter, author, painter, performance artist and actor. Mx Bond, in addition to being a new Hudson Valley resident, has performed at multiple venues throughout the area, including organizing the popular Spiegeltent Cabaret at Bard College. Bond has received numerous accolades, including an Obie (2001), a Bessie (2004), a Tony nomination (2007), the Ethyl Eichelberger Award (2007), The Peter Reed Foundation Grant, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant for Artists.
