The Festival of Trees at the Berkshire Museum in downtown Pittsfield, MA, is an annual holiday tradition that has grown from a handful of holiday trees, to an exhibition of more than 100 decorated trees.

The Festival of Trees at the Berkshire Museum in downtown Pittsfield, MA, is an annual holiday tradition that has grown from a handful of holiday trees, to an exhibition of more than 100 decorated trees.

This year discover Festival of Trees 2018: Often Heard, a  collection of dazzling, decorated trees, each depicting a favorite song. The 2018 Festival  will feature more than 100 holiday trees, each depicting a popular song. From hip-hop to doo-wop, blues and jazz to pop, country, and rock, can you guess the song titles from the decorations on each tree? All the trees festooned with musical themes are sponsored by businesses, schools, and community organizations in this beloved annual celebration of the holiday season.

The museum is also hosting an after hours viewing on Saturdays. When the twinkling lights are ablaze on every tree but the galleries are dark. The indoor forest of imaginatively decorated trees festooned with musical motifs offer a dreamy atmosphere during evening hours, and guessing the song title that matches each tree’s décor becomes more of a challenge at night!

The Columbia County Historical Society presents an illustrated lecture by Ghent Historian, Gregg Berninger. In 1818, the town of Ghent was founded from parts of the towns of Chatham, Claverack and Kinderhook. 2018 marks Ghent’s bicentennial and the publication of Berninger’s “Ghent 1818-2018: A History of Our Own”.

Gregg Berninger serves as the Municipal Historian for the Town of Ghent and is widely known for his provocative and humorous presentations. Gregg grew up in Ghent, is a Professor of English at Columbia-Greene Community College, and a seasonal Park Ranger at the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site.

Basilica Hudson’s sixth annual Holiday Market happens this weekend. In collaboration with Hudson River Exchange, the marketplace consists of a diverse group of regional makers, farmers and vintage collectors.

Basilica Hudson’s sixth annual Holiday Market happens this weekend. In collaboration with Hudson River Exchange, the marketplace consists of a diverse group of regional makers, farmers and vintage collectors. Visitors can browse vintage and artisanal goods and eat locally sourced farm-fresh food.

Born Thanksgiving Weekend 2013 as an antidote to big box Black Friday, Basilica Farm & Flea is part timeless flea and farmer’s market and part 21st century craft and design fair. With over 10,000 square feet of raw space, Basilica Farm & Flea is the only market of this scale in the region.
