21st Annual Ghostly Gallop, Virtual 5K & Fun Run

2021 is the 21st consecutive year that runners, walkers and volunteers gather from around the region to support the Hudson Area Library through the Ghostly Gallop. However, Due to the continuing concerns about COVID-19, we are holding this year’s Ghostly Gallop virtually.

The good news is that you can still participate, have fun, and raise some funds for your library! Just register, run a self-timed 5K on a course of your choice between October 16th and 31st and submit your time on your registration confirmation page. The fastest men’s and women’s finishers will receive a Cranna Cup — the traditional trophy for the Ghostly Gallop’s top runners. Every entrant will receive a free t-shirt — available in men’s and women’s sizes.

We also encourage you to raise funds on your own for the library as part of your Ghostly Gallop participation. It’s easy to do when you register and you can watch your progress against others. We’ll provide prizes to the top individual and team fundraisers.

The Ghostly Gallop is an important fundraiser for the library and we need your help more than ever this year to keep our programs for children and adults going strong.

We will be making a decision in the next few weeks on whether to hold a small running event for children age 12 and under on Halloween at Hudson Jr./Sr. High School.

The race was started in 2001 by then Library Director Frank Rees, current Columbia County Court Judge Richard Koweek, and the Honorable William F. Cranna (both library directors at the time). It was initially called a FUNdraiser with emphasis on fun and enjoyment. With Cranna’s passing in 2011, the race was dedicated to his memory and a new tradition was added. The women’s and men’s winners receive pewter “Cranna Cups.”
