The Columbia Land Conservancy has been great about keeping us updated on outdoor activities. Here’s a recent sampling:
Bobolinks Are Back
Visit Ooms and Overmountain Conservation Areas and you may hear a familiar call – the bobolink! Back in Columbia County for the summer, these birds are here to nest and love the grasslands, so it’s more important now than ever to keep your dog on a leash while visiting these places.
Grazing at Overmountain
You may see some new visitors at Overmountain Conservation Area! CLC is leasing land to Cowberry Crossing Farm who are grazing sheep there. The grazing helps to maintain historic pasture and improve habitat for wildlife.
The Fish Are Biting!
It’s that time of year again – fishing season! Whether you’re fishing for bass, trout, or just want to wet a line, several CLC Public Conservation Areas offer fishing for your enjoyment. Permits are now being offered online.
Hike Five Challenge
Fun for friends, family, with your pet, or solo – hike at least five of our Public Conservation Areas and we’ll send you a prize! Click here to learn more.
