Renowned film critic Peter Biskind will be at the Chatham Library to talk about his latest book, The Sky is Falling: How Vampires, Zombies, Androids, and Superheroes Made America Great For Extremism. Biskind is well known in Columbia County for programming films shown at the Crandall Theater and serving as the Executive Director of the annual FilmColumbia Festival.
Biskind is a cultural critic, film historian and former editor-in-chief of American Film magazine and executive editor of Premiere. His articles have appeared in numerous publications including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, and Paris Match. He is currently a contributing editor to Vanity Fairand a staff writer for Esquire magazine.
He has published seven other books, including: Easy Riders, Raging Bulls: How the Sex, Drugs and Rock n’ Roll Generation Saved Hollywood; Down and Dirty Pictures: Miramax, Sundance and the Rise of Independent Film; Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America; and My Lunches with Orson: Conversations between Henry Jaglom and Orson Welles.
A question and answer session, a reception, and a book signing will follow the talk.
