New Lebanon Library Celebrates Star Wars Day (May 4) w/ Fine Discounts

“May the 4th be with you”. What started as a pun shared by Star Wars fans has become a full-fledged Star Wars holiday, and an annual celebration of the galaxy far, far away. This year, the New Lebanon Library is joining the celebration with a fun idea for overdue fines.

“May the 4th be with you”. What started as a pun shared by Star Wars fans has become a full-fledged Star Wars holiday, and an annual celebration of the galaxy far, far away. This year, the New Lebanon Library is joining the celebration with a fun idea for overdue fines.

Here are the details:
If you can recite a Star Wars quote (3+ words), and the movie it came from, the library will take $1 off any existing fines (Only one per patron)
$5 off fines for an outstanding costume (Brownie points awarded for effort. T-Shirts don’t count).
$5 off fines for a passable Chewbacca imitation (the library will play a sound byte for you first).

New Lebanon Bicentennial Commemoration, Apr 21

This Saturday is the 200th anniversary of New Lebanon’s chartering. Bicentennial Commemoration events will be taking place all summer long, starting on Saturday morning.

This Saturday is the 200th anniversary of New Lebanon’s chartering. Bicentennial Commemoration events will be taking place all summer long, starting on Saturday morning. Saturday’s program will include a presentation of proclamation from State Government, Re-enactment of the charter signing, various displays of historical interest, entertainment, special commemorative cancellation stamp, and more.

Later in the day there will be a pot luck supper ‘Sup and Swing’ at the Jr/Sr High School featuring the High School Chorus, and entertainment from the locally renown Twangbusters.

Lebanon Valley Speedway 2018 Grand Season Opening, Apr 21

The 2018 season kicks off this Saturday with the 66th Grand Season Opening, featuring L&M Motors & Sayer’s Auto Wrecking’s $3000 Modified Event.

 

When I bought and moved into my house, the month was December. Several months later the Lebanon Valley Speedway opened for the summer season, and I discovered that the sounds from the speedway can be heard at my house. Luckily, I’m far enough that it’s usually just a low buzzing noise in the distance. Over the years Ive actually grown to like the sound. For one thing, it reminds me that it’s summer. The other reason I like it is that I live on a quiet road and am surrounded by woods – it’s secluded, so I like hearing the sounds and knowing that there is something happening down in the valley.
