Hudson Valley Dance Festival will bring an all-embracing range of dance styles to the breathtaking banks of the Hudson River when it returns Saturday, October 12. Set amid the stunning foliage on the Hudson River, the sixth annual edition of the festival will again take place inside the transformed 125-year-old wooden warehouse at Historic Catskill Point.

The money raised at Hudson Valley Dance Festival helps provide grants to AIDS and family service organizations across the country, including 12 based in the Hudson Valley.

Over the event’s six years, Hudson Valley Dance Festival has raised $764,724. The money helps Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS provide grants to AIDS and family service organizations nationwide, including 13 based in the Hudson Valley: Albany Damien Center and Alliance for Positive Health in Albany, Animalkind, Columbia-Greene Community Foundation and Hudson Valley SPCA in Hudson, Matthew 25 Food Pantry and Community Hospice in Catskill, Hudson Valley Community Services in Hawthorne, Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center in Kingston, Rock Steady Farm in Millerton, Roe Jan Food Pantry in Hillsdale, TOUCH (Together Our Unity Can Heal) in Congers and Troy Area United Ministries in Troy.

Drag Queen Story Time is a family-friendly and inclusive event. Striving to celebrate
differences, breaking down barriers and of course dressing up! There will also be a drag treasure chest with costumes for kids and complimentary cookies from Trixie’s Oven.

Originally from Chicago, Ella Ghent lives in the city of Hudson; Ella is a multi talented
performer in speech, drama, movement, storytelling, writing/singing songs, poetry and clowning. She has studied Waldorf education and her daytime persona (Michael) is the co-director and actor of The Camphill Hudson Players. Locally Ella has performed at Club Helsinki, Red Dot, Hudson Hall and various Camphill communities nationwide. Ella also unicycles in the Out Hudson and Flag Day Parades. Ella has lived in Columbia County for 11 years and has spent the last 7 years in Hudson.

OutHudson is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to improve the quality of life and advance the visibility of LGBTQ people in Columbia County. In addition to sponsoring multiple events throughout the year, OutHudson is the sponsor of the LGBTQ Pride Weekend in Hudson, NY.

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library are hosting a Book and Bake Sale in the Community Room of the library this Saturday and Sunday.

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library are hosting a Book and Bake Sale in the Community Room of the library this Saturday and Sunday.

Lots of new donations of new and gently used books. CDs, and DVDs. There will also be homemade treats and desserts for sale during this event. (Bakers’ Drop off for treats and baked goods will be Friday, September 6, 2019 from 9-5 and Saturday, September 7 from 10-12 at the Library.) 

So come out and support the library, get that unique book you’ve been looking for and didn’t know it, enjoy a baked good, and support the Hudson Area Library!

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library supports library collections and programming. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Friends, and enhance contributions to the Hudson Area Library.

Cleremont State Historic Site presents the Harmonies on the Hudson Outdoor Concert Series with recording artist, Greg Farley. Relax on the beautiful lawn adjacent to the mansion and enjoy a FREE outdoor concert. Bring a blanket, chair and a picnic. Children are welcome.

After ten years of playing and recording with the Felice Brothers and Conor Oberst, Greg Farley has just released his debut solo album, Taker Easy. For the album Farley mines his own history for stories of class struggle, nature, love, pain, work, and family, all set against the backdrop of the northeast. At the end of the day, Farley has nothing to lose and something to say, and he’s saying it from the gut.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.
