Opening At The Crandell: Crazy, Stupid, Love

Opening tonight at The Crandell in Chatham – Crazy, Stupid, Love

Showtimes:
Friday, August26 & Saturday, August 27 at 7:00pm & 9:15pm
Sunday, August 28 – Thursday, September 1 at 7:00pm

From The Crandell’s website:

Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who gave us the half daring, half disappointing I Love You Phillip Morris (with Jim Carrey), Crazy, Stupid, Love is the best comedy this year, outside of Bridesmaids, of course—and is much more gentle, subtle, and sweet than Kristen Wiig‘s broadside. (Ha, ha.) The always amusing Steve Carell plays a regular guy whose wife, the always watchable Julianne Moore cuckolds and leaves him (or threatens to), with the result that he tries to even the score by going on a dating binge, abetted by the always surprising Ryan Gosling. Throw in Marisa Tomei, Emma Stone, Kevin Bacon, and a very good script, and you have the recipe for an always engaging movie.

Opening At The Crandell: The Smurfs

Opening tonight at The Crandell in Chatham, family-friendly flick, The Smurfs!

Showtimes:
Saturday, August 13, 2:00 Matinee
Every Night at 7:00pm

From The Crandell’s website:

“This animated/live action adaptation of a 1980′s tv kids show featuring blue thingies has been a surprise hit. When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours—in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down. A semi-clever script supplies some adult appeal as well. Starring a very funny Hank Azaria, who steals the movie.”

Budget Troubles And Interesting Solutions for Chatham

The Columbia Paper ran an interesting article yesterday looking at the budget concerns of Chatham Village. In the article titled, How low can we go?, Parry Teasdale (writer, Columbia Paper), looks at the looming $70,000 deficit that the village is facing, what caused the current financial situation and how some villagers think they might deal with this deficit. One of the more interesting solutions posed was to ask the tax-exempt property holders of the village, which occupy roughly 38% of the land, to help out by contributing to the village.

Chatham isn’t alone in facing these financial issues and many of our towns and villages are in the same boat. Teasdale’s article is an interesting read and definitely worth reading in full. You can read the article now by visiting ColumbiaPaper.com or pick up a copy of the paper.
