Following the talk, attendees will walk out to the piece in The Fields and enjoy some refreshments with the artist!

Art OMI Exhibit Opening – OnSite: Yolande Daniels

OMI International Arts Center continues it’s OnSite series from Art Omi: Architecture with Yolande Daniels.

The exhibition will feature a steel panel from a 2010 installation of an outdoor pavilion of folded waterjet cut sheet steel and cast concrete hemisphere seating for the Evergreen Museum at Johns Hopkins University. The project responds to the decorative exuberance of a demolished tearoom on the grounds of the former mansion and references tea fantasies from the tranquility of the Japanese tea ceremony to the psychedelia of Alice in Wonderland’s tea party.

Trick or Treat in The Omi Fields, Oct 28

Head to Omi this Saturday for a free afternoon of Halloween fun. The day’s festivities include art-making, hayrides, and a candy hunt amongst the sculptures. Come in your favorite costume, craft your own treat bag, and enjoy cider, popcorn and fresh apples in the park.

Dance Omi Salon Open to Public on Jul 22

With a diverse group of dancers from all over the world, the Dance Omi Salon is a forum for the residents to share their individual work with the public before exhibiting their collaborative projects later in the month.

With a diverse group of dancers from all over the world, the Dance Omi Salon is a forum for the residents to share their individual work with the public before exhibiting their collaborative projects later in the month. It is an intimate evening of live performance set in the studio spaces, and gives context to individual artist’s work at the start of the residency program.

OMI Arts Center Exhibit, ‘ReActor’ by Alex Schweder & Ward Shelley

ReActor, 2016, Wood and concrete, 16’x44’x8′

ReActor is part of an experimental, performative series of “social relationship architecture” designed and built by internationally renowned architect-artist duo Alex Schweder and Ward Shelley.

Located in Architecture Omi’s Field 01, ReActor is a habitable sculpture, where Schweder + Shelley will live in full view of Omi’s audience. The 44-foot by 8-foot structure rotates 360-degrees atop a 15-foot concrete column in response to its inhabitants’ movements, exterior forces, and interior conditions, making visible the intimate relationship between architecture and its inhabitants.
