While we are all eagerly looking forward to spring, there are still two more winter tours scheduled at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. These tours, give visitors a sneak preview into the behind-the-scenes installation of the Parlors Project, which integrates a meticulous historic restoration with interactive technology to bring to life the two main parlors of Thomas Cole’s home.
The project will reveal the only known interiors designed by Thomas Cole, the founder of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The interiors include recently discovered original decorative painted borders by Cole himself and reveal another facet of Cole’s artistic vision that was previously lost to history.

The Norman Rockwell Museum hosts a series of recurring events. One of which, ‘Focus On Rockwell: Meet Rockwell’s Models’, will bring together some of the famous illustrator’s models. Find out what it was like to pose for America’s favorite illustrator from Rockwell’s own models, who share their personal experiences.
Authors Susan Stessin-Cohn and Ashley Hurlburt-Biagini will read from, and discuss their book, “In Defiance: Runaways from Slavery in New York’s Hudson River Valley, 1735-1831,” at the Chatham Bookstore on Sunday. The reading will be followed by a conversation with the authors and Thomas Chulak from the bookstore.
