Every Monday, the New Lebanon Library hosts a Kripalu Yoga class. Kripalu Yoga is a challenging approach to asana practice that emphasizes meditation and breathwork, and encourages inward focus and spiritual attunement. Basic Principle: Practicing Kripalu Yoga can initiate a gradual process of physical healing, psychological growth, and spiritual awakening.

Columbia County Solid Waste Stations Recycling Fee Now in Effect

In November, the Columbia County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution imposing a recycling fee to offset the rising cost of handling the recyclable material brought into the County owned Solid Waste Stations.

Residents will need to purchase an annual recycling permit, if you utilize the County facilities. THIS IS ONLY FOR RESIDENTS THAT UTILIZE THE COUNTY SOLID WASTE STATIONS. This does not impact anyone who has curbside pick up.

This is an annual recycling permit and will be in effect for the entire calendar year regardless of when it is purchased. Therefore, if you purchased this permit in March of 2019 it will still expire on December 31, 2019. Each year that the County continues this program, residents will have to purchase a permit.

The permit fee structure is as follows:

Residents of Columbia County with proof of residency	$50.00 per household
Residents over the age of 65 years with proof	$35.00 per household
Out of County Residents	$100.00 per household

You will receive two stickers per each recycling permit to be placed on your vehicle(s) visible for the station attendants to see. Also included, will be a recycling protocol of materials that will be accepted at the stations from your household.

The permits are available at all the Columbia County Solid Waste Stations and many Town Clerks.

By putting up a feeder in your yard you can experience the wonderful birds of winter right outside your window and stay warm inside while watching. Feeding birds in winter is fun and helps birds during the harsh conditions the season brings.

Learn about common backyard birds, feeding tips, and ways to attract birds to your property. There will also be a stroll along the trail in search of birds.

Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District (www.ccswcd.org) provides educational programs and services to help residents and communities manage and protect the natural resources of Columbia County.

Opening this weekend at Art Omi: EXIT Architecture: Speculations for the Hereafter, and InConstruction: Hariri + Hariri, the inaugural exhibition in this new series focusing on architecture and design projects, by contemporary architects presented publicly for the first time. EXIT Architecture is a speculative look at designing for the afterlife in all its potential architectural and design forms, and new ways of marking our exit, and was curated by Warren James, and Julia van den Hout + Kyle May.

Refreshments will be served, with remarks from the exhibiting architects, curators, and Warren James, Director of Art Omi: Architecture.
