What better way to start 2020 than with a night of skiing and riding with your family and friends. This is a new launch program with affordable lift ticket packages, rental equipment, and one-hour lessons.

Additional Family/Friend Night dates will include: February 1st, February 15th, February 22nd and March 7th.

Catamount Mountain Resort features 40 trails with snowmaking, and a 1000 foot vertical drop.

COST: $20 – $85
The cost for two tickets is $55, three tickets is $65, four tickets is $75, and five tickets is $85.

If you need rental equipment, the cost will only be $20. If you want to sharpen your skiing or riding skills, one hour group lesson will only cost $20, too. Rentals and Lessons can be purchased individually.

The Claverack Free Library announces the opening of an exhibition of still lifes by painter Nancy Hagin, a nationally known artist who lives locally and in New York City.

The Claverack Free Library announces the opening of an exhibition of still lifes by painter Nancy Hagin, a nationally known artist who lives locally and in New York City.

This is the second show in the library’s new Marilyn and Bob Laurie Foundation gallery space. Ms Hagin will be present at the opening this Saturday to discuss her work, so bring your questions and stay for refreshments.

Working in acrylic and watercolor, she is known for her lush hues, exploration of color symmetries and opulent patterns. Hagin received a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University and a MFA from Yale University. She has served as an instructor at the Maryland Institute of Art, Fashion Institute of Technology, Pratt Institute, Cooper Union and SUNY/Purchase in New York, and worked as a visiting artist/guest lecturer at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Hagin has been honored with a Fulbright Grant, two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and awards from the National Academy of Design and the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her work has been shown at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park, Lincoln, Mass.; Brandeis University, and the Art in Embassies Program of the U.S. State Department among others. She showed for many years at the Alpha Gallery in Boston and the Fischbach Gallery in New York City. Since 1983, she has maintained a house and studio in Glenco Mills.

Join the Columbia Land Conservancy for their January Nature Journaling program on Saturday, January 18. This quarterly program will delve into the practice of mindful observation through the art of keeping a nature journal that builds over the course of the year. This first session will start at the beginning. Everyone will get a journal (or bring your own if you prefer) to use over the course of the year – the CLC will provide various drawing and writing tools. Participants will learn some basic drawing and observation skills, practice different methods of seeing and capturing information in nature, and follow some prompts to get comfortable and commence the yearlong journaling endeavors.

The Palace Theatre in Albany is having a special screening of the 1980 movie, ‘Flash Gordon’, tonight, January 13, at 7pm.

Although NASA scientists are claiming the unexpected eclipse and strange “hot hail” are nothing to worry about, Dr. Hans Zarkov knows better, and takes NY Jets Quarterback Flash Gordon with him into space to rectify things. They land on planet Mongo, where the despot Ming the Merciless is attacking Earth out of pure boredom. With the help of a race of Hawkmen, Flash and the gang struggle to save their home planet.
