Columbia County Fair Starts Tomorrow!

The 177th Columbia County Fair begins tomorrow (August 30, 2017) in Chatham, NY. There is so much happening over the next 6 days of the fair, that it would be too long to list everything here. Following is an overview from the fair’s website, ColumbiaFair.com. Check the site out for more info, and schedules.

The Columbia County Fair proudly welcomes two-time Grammy-winning country music star Travis Tritt to our grandstand stage on Sunday (7 pm) for an evening of Southern Rock, Gospel, R&B and Country hits from the famous Georgian singer.

On Friday, the Cincinnati Circus pulls into the fairgrounds to amaze us with their BIG show of juggling, magic, comedy, aerial acrobatics, hula hooping, bed of nails, whipcracking and more.

Motorheads will get their dose of metal-smashing mayhem with two nights of Demolition Derby produced by Stoney Roberts. On Wednesday night, catch 4 cylinders, mini vans, mini pick-ups and mini SUVs heats plus 6 and 8 cylinders and full-size pick-ups and vans on Thursday night.

The excitement of bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding thrills fairgoers on Labor Day with professional cowboys throughout the country competing for cash prizes and a chance at the year-end trophy buckle at the Painted Pony Rodeo. Team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling and ladies barrel racing contest fill out the event.

On Saturday, the raging Monster Tractors will once again pull their heavy loads past the grandstand crowd, testing fairgoers eardrums while earning points towards the circuit championship. Our annual Firefighters Parade steps off at 11 am with Columbia County Fire and EMS companies marching along with the Ghent Band.

For acts of illusion and jaw-dropping acrobatics, Variety Extreme, takes the North Gate stage for the first time along with The Kenya Safari Acrobats who will perform a non-stop ride of gravity-defying human pyramids, balancing, tumbling, limbo dancing, hurling through hoops and breathtaking contortions all to a Benga beat.

Also, new to the Fair is TerranceB Celebrity Mentalist & Hynoptist. TerranceB’s hypnosis show is hysterical fun for the whole family while his mentalist show proves his ability to unbelievably predict what’s in your pocket or what your birthday is.

Back again for 2017 are all of our favorite competitions of livestock, talent, bounty cooking, beverage making, domestic arts & crafts, antique tractors, quilts, produce, sunflowers, scarecrows, school work, photography, school girl queen, flowers, scouting, wool, watermelon & ice cream eating, 4-H and Grange plus the new giant pumpkin contest.

And the beat goes on throughout the Fair with musical performances by Grit N Whiskey, Hard Luck Band, Acoustic Rye, Eli’s Gin Band, Allen & Azzaam, DJ Jeff Ouellette, Moonshine Junkies, Music Box Productions Karaoke and DJ Jack Bogarski. Plus thrilling midway rides, games of chance, fabulous food concessions and products and services vendors galore.
