At The Crandell – The Big Sick

NOW SHOWING at the Crandell Theater in Chatham: The Big Sick

Based on the real-life courtship between Kumail Nanjiani and Emily V. Gordon, THE BIG SICK tells the story of Pakistan-born aspiring comedian Kumail (Nanjiani), who connects with grad student Emily (Kazan) after one of his standup sets. However, what they thought would be just a one-night stand blossoms into the real thing, which complicates the life that is expected of Kumail by his traditional Muslim parents. When Emily is beset with a mystery illness, it forces Kumail to navigate the medical crisis with her parents, Beth and Terry (Holly Hunter and Ray Romano) who he’s never met, while dealing with the emotional tug-of-war between his family and his heart. THE BIG SICK is directed by Michael Showalter (HELLO MY NAME IS DORIS) and producer by Judd Apatow (TRAINWRECK, THIS IS 40) and Barry Mendel (TRAINWRECK, THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS).

Pictures from Chatham Summerfest 2017

Chatham’s 41st Annual Summerfest took place this past Saturday. The annual street fair featured performers, artists, vendors, and food trucks. It was a great day, even with the ominous afternoon storm that rolled through town.

Here are some pictures that I took on Saturday:

A History Mystery Case from Lebanon Valley Historical Society

The Lebanon Valley Historical Society has a “history mystery” that they would like our help with. The society is trying to determine where the house in the picture below is located.

Apparently the house was shown on a couple of H. M. Gillet’s postcards from the early 20th Century. The Historical Society believes that it is still standing, but may no longer have the entire elaborate porch. They say to look for the square widow’s watch on the top, which should help identify the house.

If you think you know where in Columbia County, NY, this house is, tell the Historical Society by leaving a comment under the house’s pictures on their FaceBook page.
