Enchanted City Steampunk Festival in Troy, Sep 16

The fourth annual Enchanted City Steampunk Fair, returns to Troy, NY this Saturday. The fairy tale of the city’s future and past is revealed for a day in this festival taking place in Troy’s historic downtown. It’s an urban spectacle of invention, imagination, and theater which honors Troy’s Victorian/Industrial heritage, while highlighting the City’s emerging creative economy and technology sector.

The festival will open with the Chamberlain Inventor’s Challenge Parade at 11am that leads into Riverfront Park. The day continues with vendors and special attractions, including street performers and peddlers, storytelling, dancing, puppet shows, interactive theater, magic acts and a costume contest. Adults and children are encouraged to come dressed in steampunk clothing, or as fairies.

Basilica Soundscape 2017 in Hudson NY, Sept 15 – 17

Basilica SoundScape, the annual event that takes place at Basilica Hudson, features live concert performances, conceptual sound performances, author readings, installations, collaborations, curated local vendors and artisans. This year’s “antifestival” will feature a lineup of some of the most innovative and genre-pushing musicians, visual artists and writers working today, with unique collaborations across disciplines.

Basilica SoundScape, a carefully curated weekend that’s been called “the anti­festival” by various publications for offering of a thoughtful mix of music, visual art, and literature, is co-curated by Brandon Stosuy (The Creative Independent), Basilica Co-Founder and Director Melissa Auf der Maur and Basilica Co-Founder Tony Stone. This year they welcome back previous BSS Creative Director Michael Renaud to handle all aspects of visual design for the event and have added the talents of a special guest curator, Jenn Pelly, editor at Pitchfork, and author of a forthcoming book on the Raincoats.

Doors open at 6pm on Friday, and performances take place until 5pm on Sunday.

Block Party: LEGOs in the Library, September 12

LEGO_Library
The New Lebanon Library is hosting it’s monthly LEGO Club. The library will provide the LEGOs, so all kids need to bring is their imaginations.  After each build, kids will have a chance to check out each other’s creations and the library will display the completed construction sets.

For ages 5 – 12. LEGO donations are very welcome
