COVID-19 Update from Columbia County Health Department, May 31

Following is today’s update from the Columbia County Department of Health.

Following is today’s update from the Columbia County Department of Health.

As of 12 PM on May 31, 2020:

– Columbia County has had 33 residents that have passed away from COVID-19.

-Columbia County has received confirmed positive test results for 389 community members.

-There are 126 active cases of COVID-19 in Columbia County.

-There are 37 additional residents on mandatory quarantine and 7 residents on precautionary quarantine.

-231 of the 389 cases have recovered from COVID-19

– 17 of the positive cases are hospitalized, 1 of those hospitalized are in the ICU

-We’ve received a total of 4,508 PCR test results and we’ve received 1,243 antibody results, of which 130 were positive.

Visit Ooms and Overmountain Conservation Areas and you may hear a familiar call – the bobolink! Back in Columbia County for the summer, these birds are here to nest and love the grasslands, so it’s more important now than ever to keep your dog on a leash while visiting these places.

You may see some new visitors at Overmountain Conservation Area! CLC is leasing land to Cowberry Crossing Farm who are grazing sheep there. The grazing helps to maintain historic pasture and improve habitat for wildlife.

It’s that time of year again – fishing season! Whether you’re fishing for bass, trout, or just want to wet a line, several CLC Public Conservation Areas offer fishing for your enjoyment. Permits are now being offered online.
