Spotty Dog Writers Studio Reading Series, Feb 28

The Writers Studio Reading Series at The Spotty Dog Books & Ale is this Friday, February 28th.

The Writers Studio Reading Series features several writers who will read from their works. The February entry in the series features The Writers Studio Hudson Valley faculty Rebecca Gee and students: Sean Allison,Jody Bolluyt, Lacey Clarke, Eva Deitch, and Julie Means Kane.

The Writers Studio Reading Series is a quarterly event at The Spotty Dog, where its instructors and students read from their work. The Writers Studio Hudson Valley welcomes students at all stages, from those who have only dreamed of writing fiction or poetry to those with MFAs hungry for additional serious, ongoing instruction.

OutHudson Pride Festival Begins w/ Book Reading at Spotty Dog, Jun 12

The OutHudson Pride Festival kicks off next Wednesday with the Spotty Dog Book Reading with authors Camille Spencer and Karen Williams.

Karen Williams is a writer and psychotherapist who lives between New York City and the Berkshires. In addition to novels and short stories, she has published articles on the human-animal bond and was awarded the Maxwell Medallion by the Dog Writer’s Association of America. She enjoys philosophical debates, and often asks the question we all ponder: is there a place for us beyond this life and, if so, can our dogs and cats come too? As the Crow Flies, a haunting romance with a good dose of humor and the right amount of spooky, is currently a finalist for a 2019 Golden Crown Literary Society award.

Camille Spencer grew up in Southern California during the 70s and 80s, where she spent two years as an art major in college only to switch mid-way to English Literature. She’s worked as a freelance copywriter and editor since 2001. In 2013, she began writing fiction on the side. Truth or Dare was published in 2018. Her second romance, On Second Thought, is slated for release in February of 2020. She currently lives in Western Massachusetts with her wife and their daughter.

Hot Dog Boat, a collaborative open-mic night… about Hot Dogs is returning to The Spotty Dog Books & Ale

Hosted by Burt Murder, HOT DOG BOAT is a delicious event in which YOU get to be in the band. All instruments provided, occasional prizes, and even the POTENTIAL PROMISE of HOT DOGS! (Cannot guarantee Hot Dogs at this time)

Come and get rowdy, sail away on the singing ship of hot dogs, float into the magical abyss of tubed meat.

Roll up on shore or cast away with a microphone in hand.

Spotty Dog Trivia Night in Hudson, February 7

Since 2007, The Spotty Dog Books & Ale, in Hudson, has hosted a bi-weekly Quiz Night.

“Teams of up to four people compete against each other over four rounds of 15 questions, a worksheet of (usually) 20 questions, and four bonus questions. The winning team gets their name on our winner’s board and their bar tab on the house.”
