The Columbia Land Conservancy and Supersoul Yoga are teaming up to provide outdoor yoga classes for the summer.

The Columbia Land Conservancy and Supersoul Yoga are teaming up to provide outdoor yoga classes for the summer. 2018 marks the 3rd consecutive year for the two organizations to support their similar initiatives of connection with, and
through nature. The classes will take place every Tuesday at Sutherland Pond at Ooms
Conservation Area in Chatham. Proceeds will support the Columbia Land Conservancy, which works with the community to conserve the farmland, forests, wildlife habitat, and rural character of Columbia County; and The Foundation for Inspired Living, a non-profit established by Supersoul Farm to fund education in meditation, yoga, and permaculture farming.

The classes are suitable for all-levels of yoga experience.

Every Tuesday between June 12 and September 4 2018: 6pm – 7pm

Columbia Land Conservancy’s Family Fun Day in Ghent, May 26

The Columbia Land Conservancy presents a day of family fun. Attendees can learn about fly tying from local expert BIll Newcomb, try their hand at archery with Stacy Preusser from DEC, and check out live animals from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum, and more.

The Columbia Land Conservancy presents a day of family fun. Attendees can learn about fly tying from local expert BIll Newcomb, try their hand at archery with Stacy Preusser from DEC, and check out live animals from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum. There will also be displays from the Ghent Town Historian, local master gardeners, and Zero to Go – an organization dedicated to zero-waste events. Families can build pollinator hotels, decorate a peat pot and plant a native plant, blow giant bubbles, and go on a nature-themed scavenger hunt.

New CLC swag available to purchase, music by Joe Adee, delicious barbecue for purchase from Capital Q, and free Stewart’s ice cream.

The Columbia Land Conservancy presents it’s first Sip and Stroll event of 2018 by celebrating World Migratory Bird Day.

The Columbia Land Conservancy presents it’s first Sip and Stroll event of 2018 by celebrating World Migratory Bird Day. World Migratory Bird Day, was created in 1993, by the Smithsonian and Cornell Lab of Ornithology and has historically been celebrated around the world on the 2 Saturday of May. However, since birds don’t just migrate on one day, and often migrations happen at different times in other parts of the world, groups are encouraged to educate people about migratory birds any time of year! The CLC will be celebratingWorld Migratory Bird Day in May, with a walk around the Greenport Conservation Area. The walk will include a discussion about grassland bird management, and will journey to the overlook to see if there are any migratory species along the river.

Free Admission to Any National Park This Saturday

National parks that typically charge entrance fees will be offering free admission this weekend to mark the start of National Park Week.

For one week each April, the National parks join the National Park Foundation (the official charity of America’s national parks), to celebrate America’s treasures. The theme for 2018’s National Park Week is “Park Stars,” celebrating everything from starry skies to superstar volunteers, park features, and resources. Parks, programs, and partners nationwide invite people everywhere to explore stories, experiences, and sites that brighten the National Park System and public lands.
