I’m Returning to the ECLECTIMANIAC Radio Show on WGXC

I’m returning to the ECLECTIMANIAC radio show! Tune into tonight’s show for this month’s “odyssey through a diverse pop landscape featuring new hits, throwbacks, remixes and nu-disco”. The monthly radio show is curated and hosted by my good friend, Tony@Large. I’ll be stopping by the station tonight to hang out with Tony in the studio.

M&M’s Tap & Tavern Summer Block Party Announced

M&M’s Tap & Tavern announced on their FaceBook Page, that the M&M’s Summer Block Bash is happening this Summer. The event is designed as a fun happening for visitors, that will also support local businesses.

The bar/restaurant will take over the parking lot at it’s New Lebanon location, and fill it with beer trucks, festival style food booths, an outside bar, and more. There will be a Corn Hole Tournament, a Wing Eating Contest and a main stage with music acts throughout the day. Chatham Brewery is a sponsor of the party, and will provide the beer.

The gates will open at noon and the last band will play until 11pm. Following the last band, M&M’s will host an after party with DJ Fish. M&M’s is currently negotiating with a few transportation companies to provide shuttle and transportation options for anyone who can’t, shouldn’t, or doesn’t want to drive home.

As of the announcement, the following four acts were confirmed. More acts and events will be announced as the date gets closer.

Headline Band – 5 Gun Draw
A country group, specializing in Rock Country with a multitude of male and female vocalists that can cover all artists.

Feature Band – Side Show Willie
A three-piece band, and local mainstay, playing Classic Rock and Dance music.

Opening Band – Flat Broke
A talented band that plays Beatles, Ozzy, Rage Against the Machine and much more.

Tickets go on sale Saturday April 29th at 10am
Online pre event tickets are $10
Tickets at the gate are $15
Tickets at the gate from 7pm – midnight are $20

Alejandro Escovedo at Club Helsinki Tonight, January 6

Legendary rocker Alejandro Escovedo brings his unique punk-infused, roots-rock sound to Club Helsinki in Hudson tonight. Escovedo is joined by the Burn Something Beautiful Band, which features Peter Buck of R.E.M., Scott McCaughey of Young Fresh Fellows, Kurt Block of Fastbacks, and Linda Pitmon of the Baseball Project.

Texas-raised Mexican-American Alejandro Escovedo – the uncle of pop-funk star Sheila E – is a one-time punk-rocker mostly playing original alt-country music since before there was such a term. His music today ranges from Velvet Underground-style drone rock to classic punk to Los Lobos-like Chicano rock to Rolling Stones covers to idiosyncratic, character-based visionary music along the lines of Tom Waits.
In recent years, Escovedo has teamed with Helsinki favorite Chuck Prophet for songwriting and Tony Visconti (David Bowie) for producing. Escovedo credits Prophet for the hints of lightness and humor that have been creeping into his work the past few years.

Tonight’s show will also include an opening band – the indie-rock group, The Minus 5.

Soul Clap & Dance-Off at The Half Moon, November 19

2014soulclaptourposterTomorrow night at The Half Moon in Hudson, it’s Soul Clap & Dance-Off, featuring DJ Jonathan Toubin.

Toubin is an NYC DJ, who is known in the underground scene for bringing throwback pizzazz and retro cool to contemporary dance parties. He grabs soul sounds from the 1960’s, and drops them on today’s late-night dance floors.
