Chatham OctoberFeast – Saturday, October 1

Chatham Village will host it’s first ever OctoberFeast this Saturday, October 1, 2016, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The day will celebrate the harvest season with local food and family activities throughout the village. The festivities will feature food, music, drink, and an interesting sounding contest.

Get Crocked Cooking Contest

The Get Crocked cooking contest is open to all, and will be a judged contest looking for the best Crock Pot meal. The winning recipe will be part of a round up press release and will be published on the Our Community Cares website and Facebook page. Judging will take place during the day, and participants are to arrive no later than 12:30pm with one large crockpot filled with their entry submission, along with a printed copy of the recipe. First prize is $100, and second prize is $50. There’s a $10 entry fee, and you must return a completed entry form, which can be found here. Proceeds from “Crockpot for a Cause” will benefit Tina and Rich Powers and family, of Canaan.

OctoberFeast kicks off at 11am, and is centered on Main Street. Following is the full schedule.

11 a.m.

Our Daily Bread Gluten Free Bakery, 54 Main St. For sale: stuffed pretzels, Octoberfeast knishes of mashed potatoes, sauerkraut and corned beef.

Our Daily Bread Deli, 116 Hudson Ave. Smokers will be fired up. For sale: smoked turkey legs, pastrami on a stick, sausages and all the trimmings. Chatham Brewing’s Oktoberfest brew and other beer. Music noon to 2 p.m. and lawn/deck will be available for lawn games (bocce and more). Discounts to those in traditional lederhosen and free draft to those who purchase a beer stein from R.H. Van Alstyne Fine Jewelry.

11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Chatham Café & Deli, 41 Main St. Cider, hot chocolate, seasonal pastries and more will be sold as well as the full menu inside with specials featuring a seasonal flavor.

Boston Pops and The B-52s at Tanglewood this Friday

B52-345xIt’s going to be an end of summer blowout at Tanglewood with The B-52s and the Boston Pops!

The B-52s are one of the most fun, party bands of the past 40 years. This Friday, they will take the stage at Tanglewood and join the Boston Pops, led by conductor, Keith Lockhart. If that doesn’t sound like enough fun on it’s own, then check out some of the other festivities planned for Friday:

Blue Light Trio Perform at Spice Dragon

Blue Light Trio will perform tonight at Spice Dragon in Pittsfield, MA. The Berkshires-based, jazz trio will perform as part of the city’s First Fridays Artwalk.

You can enjoy dozens of art shows, receptions and events each month year round in Pittsfield’s Upstreet Cultural District in the heart of the Berkshires of western Massachusetts.

There is no cover for tonight’s Blue Light Trio gig, which begins at 8pm. Head to Spice Dragon and sample something from the late night sushi menu as you enjoy the jazz performance.

Friday (May 18, 2012): An Evening of Jazz & Swing Standards With DBX2

Join us for an evening of exceptional music with this fantastic swing band!

DBX2 features bassist Dan Broad, Allen Livermore on saxophone, and pianist David Bartley. Dan Broad, one of the most sought after bassists in Western New England, has performed in nearly every state in the union and as well as in Europe. Allen Livermore is a certified music teacher who has taught preschool through college. As a saxophonist and drummer, he has performed at clubs, restaurants, resorts, colleges and arts spaces throughout New England andNew York. Allen Livermore is a certified music teacher who has taught preschool through college. As a saxophonist and drummer, he has performed at clubs, restaurants, resorts, colleges and arts spaces throughout New England and New York. David Bartley’s musical career included scoring original music for film, video, and radio productions, performing in various popular music groups, and composing and performing several performance art pieces in association with the Washington Performing Arts Society.

Free and open to the public – donations for the performer are welcome.
