Clermont State Historic Site invites families to the Children’s Walk, on Sunday, January 17th.

Clermont State Historic Site invites families to the Children’s Walk, on Sunday, January 17th. Follow in the footsteps of the Livingston sisters, Janet and Honoria, as you explore some of the girls’ favorite
places to play and explore. This will be a gentle walk for families, with treats.

PLEASE NOTE : Clermont follows all NYS Department of Health guidelines for safety during the COVID 19
pandemic. Masks and social distancing will be required of all tour participants until these guidelines are lifted
by New York State Parks.

Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Weather dependent.

The Kinderhook Memorial Library continues it’s History Walk series with ‘Changes of the 20th Century’.

The Kinderhook Memorial Library continues it’s History Walk series with ‘Changes of the 20th Century’. Like many rural villages, throughout the 1900’s, Kinderhook went through cycles of gaining and losing population. Using Ralph Duck’s seminal book, Kinderhook and Its People, as a partial reference point, Historians Sally and Bruce Naramore will discuss some of the many changes that took place in the Village during the 20th Century.

The Kinderhook Memorial Library presents it’s next History Walk in their series. This walk will focus on Martin Van Buren.

The Kinderhook Memorial Library presents it’s next History Walk in their series. This walk will focus on Martin Van Buren.

To present day, Martin Van Buren is still our only president to speak English as a second language. With the guidance of staff from the Martin Van Buren national Historic Site, the walk will explore Van Buren’s Dutch heritage. This event is part of the Dutch Heritage Week, which is taking place July 12-19, in the Village of Kinderhook.

The Kinderhook Memorial Library presents Stories of the Village “Square” – Ruth Piwonka and Kate Johnson, the Village and Town Hitorians respectfully, will draw upon the history of the town squares and greens in general as they talk about the changing character of this particular spot over the years, the artifacts ornamenting its green space, and the buildings surrounding the square.
