The 11th Annual Chatham Area Farm Tour, Sep 29

The Chatham Agricultural Partnership (CAP), the Columbia Land Conservancy, and the farmers of Chatham present the Chatham Area Farm Tour 2019 on Saturday, September 28.

The Chatham Agricultural Partnership (CAP), the Columbia Land Conservancy, and the farmers of Chatham present the Chatham Area Farm Tour 2019 on Saturday, September 28.

2019 is the eleventh annual self-guided bike and car tour that invites the public to visit farms in the Chatham area. Visitors will get to see the diverse face of farming in northern Columbia County, with horse, dairy, sheep, cattle, maple syrup, wine, and produce farms. There will also be stands open, many with local farm products to purchase.

This year’s tour is co-sponsored by the Columbia Land Conservancy and visitors will learn about the important roles the organization plays in the farmland of Columbia County.

Photography & Video/Film Contest

The CAP is also sponsoring a photography and video/film contest for images taken on the farms during the tour with 3 Divisions – Child (under 10), Youth (ages 11-16), and Adult (ages 17+).

Instructions for the contest:

  • Images and films should be taken on September 28th between 10-4, on one of the participating farms.
  • Photographs should be emailed to chathamkeepfarming@gmail.com. JPEG files less than 3MB would be appreciated.
  • Videos/Films should be uploaded to DropBox, (please email chathamkeepfarming@gmail.com for uploading instructions). Videos/Films should be less than 5 minutes.
  • Please include your name, age, phone number and email address along with your submission.
  • No more than 3 submissions per person.
  • Submissions must be made by October 13th.

The winning photographs and films will be displayed in the Columbia Land Conservancy window on Main St. in Chatham, on the Chatham Keep Farming Website and Instagram account, and will be displayed and shown at the Farm Film Festival in Chatham. (March 2019)

It’s Time for the 179th Columbia County Fair! Aug 28 – Sep 2, 2019

The Columbia County Fair is six days of fun with all your fair favorites as well as new entertainment that will fill the stages, exhibit buildings, barns, midway and grandstand.

The Columbia County Fair is six days of fun in Chatham, New York with all your fair favorites as well as new entertainment that will fill the stages, exhibit buildings, barns, midway and grandstand.

Motorheads will get their dose of metal-smashing mayhem with two nights of Demolition Derby. On Wednesday night, catch 4 cylinders, mini vans, mini pick-ups and mini SUVs heats plus 6 and 8 cylinders and full-size pick-ups and vans on Thursday night.

Friday night the New York Truck Pulling circuit rolls into our Grandstand for one exciting night of diesel, 4WD modified and enhanced gas competitors, produced by Shootout Productions.

The excitement of bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding thrills fairgoers on Labor Day with professional cowboys throughout the country competing for cash prizes and a chance at the year-end trophy buckle at the Painted Pony Rodeo. Team roping, calf roping, steer wrestling and ladies barrel racing contest fill out the event.

On Saturday, the raging Monster Tractors will once again pull their heavy loads past the grandstand crowd, testing fairgoers eardrums while earning points towards the circuit championship. Our annual Firefighters Parade steps off at 11 am with Columbia County Fire and EMS companies marching along with the Ghent Band.

Get ready to rock with Latham-native and NBC’s The Voice powerhouse singer Moriah Formica Sunday on the Grandstand stage at 3 pm. Fresh off of American Idol 2019, you will not want to miss this up-and-coming rockstar. The day ramps up when country-rock sensation Frankie Ballard takes the stage to sing his hits “Helluva Life”, “Sunshine & Whiskey”, “Young & Crazy” and many more at 7 pm.

Back again for 2019 are all of our favorite competitions of livestock, talent, beverage making, domestic arts & crafts, antique tractors, quilts, produce, sunflowers, scarecrows, school work, photography, school girl queen, flowers, scouting, wool, watermelon & ice cream eating, 4-H and Grange.

And the beat goes on throughout the Fair with musical performances in the Upper Entertainment Garden, NorthGate Stage and Pavillion. Plus thrilling midway rides, games of chance, fabulous food concessions and product and services vendors galore.

Chatham Summerfest 2019 is July 20!

Chatham SummerFest is an annual Chatham Village festival, and this year will be bigger than ever because 2019 is the 150th anniversary of the incorporation of Chatham Village.

The fun begins at 11am, and runs into the night with two stages for music and entertainment, food trucks, activities for kids, a Farmer’s Market, artisan vendors, WDST radio, a special commemorative beer from Chatham Brewing, and so much more. The activities for kids include face painting, games, balloon arts, and train rides on an authentic reproduction train.

Sponsored by The Chatham Area Business and Arts (CABA), SummerFest 2019 will feature two performance stages with music and entertainment. The
performances begin at 12pm on the Chatham Brewing Main Stage with music by the Reverberators, followed by Guilty Pleasure performing at 2:30pm, and wrapping up with Till The Earth on stage at 6:30pm. In between bands, there will be a Commemorative Ceremony on the main stage at 1:10pm, and WDST Radio will be broadcasting live from SummerFest from 12pm – 3pm.

There will also be numerous activities for children from 11am – 6pm on Park Row including a Balloon Artist, Bubbles, Cotton Candy, and Train Rides. Chatham is
proud of its railroad heritage, and for the first time ever, SummerFest will have an
authentic, and colorful, reproduction train to offer rides to children and adults.
From 1pm – 4pm kids can have their faces painted by Stellar Face and Body Art.
Join in the fun of the Big Head Parade, which starts at 12:45 on Park Row, and
from 11am – 2pm, check out Art School of Columbia County Mural Project at the
Gazebo.

Tour the beautiful Tracy Memorial Hall from 10am – 4pm with Friends of Tracy,
and register for a free raffle! From 11am – 6pm Columbia County Pathways to
Recovery presents a Mock Drug User Bedroom: An Interactive Experience at the
Morris Memorial. And, Chatham T-Shirts will be on sale at the Information Booth.

Vendors and Food Trucks will be set up along Main Street, and throughout the
