On the second Friday of every month, the Red Hook Public Library hosts a Shakespeare Discussion Group.

This week’s gathering will kick off a three part discussion of Shakespeare’s Henry VI.

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

Capital Region Spring Home Show, April 7 – 9

The Home Show is a great resource for anyone who is currently renovating a home, planning their next project, or just daydreaming of ways to improve a space.

Nearly 175 exhibitors will be at the show with home improvement and remodeling exhibits, product demonstrations, and sample interior and exterior vignettes. Varla Jean Merman at Club Helsinki, Hudson

Varla Jean Merman is a drag queen character created and portrayed by Jeffery Roberson, an  actor, singer, and performer. Varla’s fictitious back story is that she is the daughter of Ernest Borgnine and Ethel Merman. Varla Jean has appeared on stage, screen, TV, cabaret, and concert halls. Her cabaret shows are always a highlight of the Provincetown summer scene, and this Sunday, Varla Jean will take the stage in Hudson.

Spring Migration Bird Walk


On Saturday, the Germantown Library presents the Keep Spring Walk, a Spring Migration Bird Walk. Founded in 1998, KEEP Conservation is a local non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and survival of migratory and breeding birds.

The tour will be guided by Linda Atkins, Pearl Broder and Louise Fraza of the KEEP Conservation Preserve. This is a family-friendly tour. Participants should bring water and binoculars
