Last week, the New Lebanon Library revealed the winning design for the library’s new mascot.”Calvin the book” was the created by local 4th grader, Logan H. Calvin will be getting some touch-ups prior to his official debut as ambassador for the library and once completed, Calvin will be produced as a plush toy.
The library invited local students (ages 5-18) to submit their own designs, and library visitors were invited to vote for their favorite. The winning mascot designer will receive a $50 Amazon Card, and a plush version of their winning mascot.
Set in the glamour of 1950’s post-war London, renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville) are at the center of British fashion, dressing royalty, movie stars, heiresses, socialites, debutants and dames with the distinct style of The House of Woodcock.

The Columbia County Historical Society and Historic Hudson present the lecture “A Dutch Approach to Historic Preservation” Preserving ‘Spirit of Place’ by Andre Hoek.
Dutch restoration architect, Andre Hoek will speak about the techniques and tools developed in the Netherlands to survey, study, restore, protect and maintain historic buildings and gardens. He will discuss whether these methods can apply to historic buildings, especially those of Dutch origin, in the Hudson Valley.
Mr. Hoek will examine projects large and small, building archeological methods, sustainability, and non-invasive energy saving solutions.

The library invited local students (ages 5-18) to submit their own designs, and library visitors were invited to vote for their favorite. The New Lebanon Library, hosts a discussion group that meets regularly to study the American Constitution. This is a bi-weekly group, that focuses on the study of the Constitution, and it’s impact on our lives. Meetings include 1 hour of study followed by 30 minutes of Q&A/discussion.
