The 2022 season continues at Mac-Haydn theatre with The Full Monty opening this week.

Based on the internationally-acclaimed hit film of the same name, The Full Monty, a ten-time Tony Award nominee, is filled with honest affection, engaging melodies and possibly the most highly anticipated closing number of any show in history…

This grin and bare-it comedy tells the story of six average-looking, unemployed steelworkers on the verge of a bold plan to get themselves out of debt, and make amends with those they love. When the men spy their wives going crazy over a group of male strippers, they decide to make some quick cash by forming their own act – a team of male strippers with ‘real’ bodies. As they conquer their fears, self-consciousness and prejudices, the men come to discover that they’re stronger as a group, and the strength that they find in each other gives them the individual courage to “let it go.”

After its smashing Mac-Haydn debut in 2014, The Full Monty is back to bare it all for three weeks! This highly-anticipated return is guaranteed to have you on your feet and feeling inspired to embrace your true self.

Book by Terrence McNally
Music and Lyrics by David Yazbek

Ancram Opera House presents INVASION! a comedy by Jonas Hassen Khemiri, and directed by Jeffrey Mousseau. Running now, until August 21st.

INVASION! is a satirical comedy centered on a name: Abulkasem. What is introduced as an amorphous word of many meanings spirals and shape-shifts into a kaleidoscopic range of identities. Abulkasem is an uncle visiting from Lebanon, a renowned theater director, an asylum-seeking apple picker, the world’s most dangerous terrorist. In a whirlwind of interconnected vignettes, we search for the answer. Who is Abulkasem?

With biting comedy and multilayered storytelling, INVASION! confronts prejudices about identity, race, and language.

Jonas Hassen Khemiri is an award-winning Swedish novelist and playwright. He is the author of five novels, six plays, and a collection of essays and short stories. Khemiri’s novels have been translated into over thirty languages. His plays have been performed by over a hundred international companies on stages from Stockholm to Berlin to New York to London.

INVASION is translated by Rachel Willson-Broyles.
