Celebrate the winter solstice at the Martin Van Buren National Historic Site with an evening trail hike and a campfire story.
The program begins at 6:30pm at the park visitor center. Ranger Kayla and Ranger Dawn will take guests on the Kinderhook Dutch Farming Heritage Trail for a 1.25 mile hike that ends at a roaring campfire. Anyone who wants to skip the hike, can bring their folding chairs directly to the campfire and wait for the hikers to meet them. When the hikers arrive, there will be hot cocoa and s’mores.
This is an outdoor event so dress warmly, and make sure to bring a headlamp or small flashlight.
