Samascott’s Annual Corn Maze Now Open in Kinderhook

Every year, Samascott’s Garden Market in Kinderhook designs and creates a unique, themed corn maze. This year’s maze, titled ‘I’ll Get You My Pretty’, features a witch in a tractor.

The Samascott’s web site recommends maze visitors dress for the elements. Bring a full water bottle for hydration and wear sturdy sneakers.

The Garden Market is also open, and features home made Apple Cider, Donuts and more.

DATES/TIME:
Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from September 2 through October 31st
The maze opens at 11 am, and last entry is at 5:00 pm.

ADMISSION:
$7 per person plus tax; children under 4 are free.

Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Please, no pets.

Tomorrow, Sunday October 30, is the final day to visit the corn maze at Samascott’s Garden Market in Kinderhook. Every year, the Samascott family comes up with a theme for the maze, which they then design, and plant. This year’s theme is Meow, and features a witchy cat on a fence.

FilmColumbia’s Spooky Shorts, Saturday & Sunday

childrens-program-2016This weekend, FilmColumbia presents a treat for kids, a special screening of Halloween-themed short films. This event is free to the public, and has two showings:

Saturday at 10 am– Crandell Theatre, Chatham
Sunday at 2 pm– Hudson Opera House, Hudson

The Hudson screening on Sunday is followed by trick or treating on Warren Street from 2-4pm, and the annual Hudson Halloween Parade at 4pm.

Barn of Terror at the Boice Farm

barb_of_terrorEvery year, to celebrate Halloween, the Boice Family Farm in Lake Katrine, NY, creates a haunted walkthrough with The Barn of Terror!  This annual Halloween attraction features a haunted barn, and surrounding frights.

The theme for 2016 is “The Corn Master is not alone…” The attractions include
8 Rooms of of unnatural Barn frights, the shocking Silo, double-dare mineshaft, and the Freaks of Cornville and the Kobbe family…

The Barn of Terror attraction began in 2002, and has been growing ever since. USA Today named The Barn of Terror one of the “Top Ten Haunted Houses in New York State.”  Food and refreshments are available, if you have the stomach for them.

OZ Halloween Gala in Pittsfield, Saturday October 29

pittsfield_oz_galaLooking for some fun Halloween festivities this weekend? The join IS183 Art School and the Berkshire Shenanigans for the OZ Halloween Gala at The Shire City Sanctuary in Pittsfield, MA, this Saturday, October 29, 2016.

The festivities begin at 6pm with a pre-party dinner at Hotel on North. Following the dinner, at 8pm, is the Dance party extravaganza at Shire City Sanctuary.

 

From IS183.org, Come prepared for all that you’ve come to expect from IS183 and Shenanigan parties, from installation art decor to we’re-not-in-Kansas-anymore entertainment. Costumes strongly encouraged but not required!

The dance goes until 1am and features music by DJ Hush, with projections by Drew Suto and Joe Wheaton.

The dinner is hosted by Vicki Bonnington & David Schecker, Tracy & Andy Foster, Robin & Stan Gerber, Lauren Joy, Julia Kaplan, and Carol & Bob Stegeman

The evening will also include a raffle to win a 10 day trip to Australia for 2!

TICKETS:
This is a 21 and over event, and tickets must be purchased in advance. Tickets range in price from $40 for the dance, to $175 for the dinner, dance, and raffle entry. If you can’t make it to the gala, raffle tickets can also be purchased on their own for $25.
