“The Women and Power series was sparked by a sense of enthusiasm for a group of women Davis represented in decorated porcelain. Each of the women articulated in these whimsical representations held a certain kind of power. Many were trailblazers, such as Katherine Graham, Brooke Astor, and Dorothy Draper. They were originally exhibited as a group at the Smithsonian Craft show in Washington DC in 2002-03 and at the Mark MacDonald Gallery in Hudson in 2005.
Chatham resident and internationally-acclaimed children’s book author and illustrator, Jim Carroll, will present his two books, ‘The Boy and the Moon’ and ‘Papa’s Backpack’. Children ages 6-9 will be delighted to meet animals of these stories and howl at the moon. This is part of a pop-up series being offered as a celebration of light, beauty and community.
Al Roker will be stopping by the Chatham Bookstore on Saturday with his latest book, Al Roker’s Extreme Weather: Tornadoes, Typhoons, and Other Weather Phenomena.
