Behind the Scenes Winter Tour at Thomas Cole House

https-%2f%2fcdn-evbuc-com%2fimages%2f26612284%2f3243390915%2f1%2foriginalWhile we are all eagerly looking forward to spring, there are still two more winter tours scheduled at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. These tours, give visitors a sneak preview into the behind-the-scenes installation of the Parlors Project, which integrates a meticulous historic restoration with interactive technology to bring to life the two main parlors of Thomas Cole’s home.

The project will reveal the only known interiors designed by Thomas Cole, the founder of the first American art movement, the Hudson River School of landscape painting. The interiors include recently discovered original decorative painted borders by Cole himself and reveal another facet of Cole’s artistic vision that was previously lost to history.

Hudson Opera House Exhibit, ‘No Parking: The Alleys and Garages of Hudson’

noparking_web_featured-470x260There’s an interesting photography exhibit at the Hudson Opera House right now. ‘No Parking: The Alleys and Garages of Hudson’ features three local artists, Lisa Durfee, William Hellermann, and Peter Spear, and their photographs that capture the hidden beauty in Hudson over the past 20 years.

“While major roads such as  Warren Street offer a panoply of architectural spectacle to enjoy, No Parking tells the story of those small streets that run parallel to the larger thoroughfares, and the hidden barns, garages, storehouses, and studios nestled along them.”
