Gail Giles “Winter Light” Art Exhibit at Chatham Bookstore

The Chatham Bookstore provides artists with a venue to display their work. Currently on display is “Winter Light” by Gail Giles.

In addition to offering current and classic books for readers of all ages, plus a diverse selection of art supplies, the Chatham Bookstore also provides artists with a venue to display their work.

Currently on display is “Winter Light” by Gail Giles. Giles has been painting and drawing – in all seasons – the pathways, fields and vistas of the Columbia County and Hudson Valley region for more than forty years. The paintings in Winter Light reflect the quiet beauty of our longest season.

Free Solo

Chai Vasarhelyi (Meru), world-renowned photographer and mountaineer Jimmy Chin, and our own Oscar-nominated editor Bob Eisenhardt, comes National Geographic Documentary Film’s Free Solo, a stunning, intimate and unflinching portrait of the free soloist climber Alex Honnold, as he prepares to achieve his lifelong dream: climbing the face of the world’s most famous rock, the 3,000 foot El Capitan in Yosemite National Park, without a rope. Celebrated as one of the greatest athletic feats of any kind, Honnold’s climb set the ultimate standard: perfection or death. Succeeding in this challenge, Honnold enters his story in the annals of human achievement. Free Solo is both an edge-of-your seat thriller and an inspiring portrait of an athlete who exceeded our current understanding of human physical and mental potential. FilmColumbia 2018, October 20-28

Hosted by The Crandell Theatre, FilmColumbia is an annual eight-day festival of world-class films representing major studios, independents, international films, animated features, documentaries and children’s short films. In addition to screening approximately 50 films, the festival also features panels, Q&A sessions with filmmakers and screenwriting workshops.

At The Crandell: WiseBodies Benefit Screening of ‘Thirsty’

WiseBodies is hosting a fundraiser screening of the movie, Thirsty, at The Crandell. Followed by a Q&A with the producer and star of the movie.

WiseBodies, which offers a unique approach to whole-being sexuality education, is hosting a fundraiser screening of the movie, Thirsty. The screening, which will be at the Crandell Theatre in Chatham, will be followed by a Q&A after, with the film’s producer, Lisa M. Thomas; and star of the film, Scott Townsend; and Isa Coffey, founder and Director of WiseBodies.org.
