Pops Peterson, boldly imagines Norman Rockwell Paintings through a modern-day lens, rethinking the iconic Four Freedoms.

Spencertown Academy Arts Center and it’s ongoing series, ‘Conversations with Neighbors’, presents An Afternoon with Artist Pops Peterson.

Pops Peterson, boldly imagines Norman Rockwell Paintings through a modern-day lens, rethinking the iconic Four Freedoms.

Celebrating the diversity in today’s America, the series has won Pops a great deal of press coverage, as well as an award from the Northeast Regional Conference on Fair Housing and Civil Rights. He has also been named the first Artist in Residence of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. The Norman Rockwell Museum has embraced the project, presenting Pops’ work and lectures at standing room only events in their main gallery.

Guided Tours of The Thomas Cole National Historic Site

Guided Tours Of The Main House and Old Studio are taking place from January through April (2019).

Just a short drive across the Hudson River is the Thomas Cole National Historic Site. Located in Catskill, NY, the site marks the birthplace of American art, where the Hudson River School of landscape painting began.

Guided Tours Of The Main House and Old Studio are taking place from January through April (2019). Explore the historic Main House and 1839 Old Studio with a museum educator. 

Visitors will join a guided tour with a Cole Site Educator to explore the 1815 Main House where Thomas Cole lived and worked. The experience features the multimedia installation The Parlors and the exhibition Thomas Cole’s Creative Process which includes original works by the artist.

Each tour lasts approximately 50 minutes

ADMISSION:
Guided tour tickets are $12 for general admission and free for members.
Each tour is limited to twelve people. Members and non-members must reserve tour tickets online in advance.

Winter Architecture Exhibitions Opening at Art Omi

Opening this weekend at Art Omi: EXIT Architecture: Speculations for the Hereafter, and InConstruction: Hariri + Hariri.

Opening this weekend at Art OmiEXIT Architecture: Speculations for the Hereafter, and InConstruction: Hariri + Hariri, the inaugural exhibition in this new series focusing on architecture and design projects, by contemporary architects presented publicly for the first time. EXIT Architecture is a speculative look at designing for the afterlife in all its potential architectural and design forms, and new ways of marking our exit, and was curated by Warren James, and Julia van den Hout + Kyle May.

Refreshments will be served, with remarks from the exhibiting architects, curators, and Warren James, Director of Art Omi: Architecture.

Gail Giles “Winter Light” Art Exhibit at Chatham Bookstore

The Chatham Bookstore provides artists with a venue to display their work. Currently on display is “Winter Light” by Gail Giles.

In addition to offering current and classic books for readers of all ages, plus a diverse selection of art supplies, the Chatham Bookstore also provides artists with a venue to display their work.

Currently on display is “Winter Light” by Gail Giles. Giles has been painting and drawing – in all seasons – the pathways, fields and vistas of the Columbia County and Hudson Valley region for more than forty years. The paintings in Winter Light reflect the quiet beauty of our longest season.
